Kira

12 years old

The next time I saw Levi was four days after my first encounter with him, at the nearby stream, early in the morning. I had gone to with Petra, a good friend of mine, as it was a tediously hot day today. We originally had just planned to dip our feet in the lake, but that plan was aborted as soon as Petra pushed me off the wooden jetty, into the cool water.

"Petra Ral! You little bitch!"

Petra just laughed at me from the jetty.

"I'm gonna get you Petra!" I yelled, half laughing, half growling. I clambered onto the jetty and rushed at Petra, dripping wet. She easily dodged my weak charge and just giggled.

"You're gonna have to do better than that Kira!" She taunted.

I grunted, annoyed at her taunting. Seeing that had gotten aggravated from her words, Petra continued to shoot endless jibes at me.

"Come on Kira, even my grandma could tackle me into the water!"

"What's up Kira! Are you too much of a coward to try strike back at me? You've finally realised how awesome I am?"

"Cat got your tongue?" She continued, poking her tongue out at me mischievously.

"Never!" I said, charging at her. Giving her no time to move out of the way, I grabbed her swung her body over my shoulder, ignoring her protests.

"Let me down Kira! Let me down!" She yelled, but I didn't listen. I had one goal at that moment, and that was dumping her in the stream. I got to the end of the jetty and tossed her into the water. Petra splashed around for a second, making out where she was.

"Kira, you bitch!" She said, giving me the evil eye, and the finger. I just laughed. Petra clambered out of the water with some difficulty and faced me. "You're a bitch, you know that," she said, slightly smiling.

"You started it!" I said, grinning from ear to ear.

"Whatever. You're still a bitch." She said, crossing her arms, a slight smile on her face.

"I know," I replied, nudging her. She let out a sigh, but quickly started smiling.

"How about, whilst we dry off, we play truth or dare!" Petra suggested, giggling. I shrugged.

"Okay, whatever," I said. I honestly didn't really care.

"Okay, I'll ask you first. Truth or dare?" Petra asked, smiling.

"Truth," I mumbled, knowing I had no secrets to hide.

"Do you like anyone?" She asked. I knew it was coming.

"No Petra. You've ask me this many times and the answer has always been no." I said, sighing.

"You're such a party pooper. Now ask me!" Petra said, excited.

"Okay, truth or dare?" I asked her.

"Truth!" She said grinning. I decided to use the same question she asked me, as I wasn't really good at this game, or any other game like this.

"Do you like anyone?" I asked. Petra immediately started blushing.

"Well, yes I do," she said, smiling slightly. So I did what any friend would do in this situation.

"Petra's got a crush on someone! Petra's got a crush on someone!" I sang. "Who though?"

"Well, I don't think you've met him. His name's Levi," she said, although I couldn't make out her words.

"Who? I couldn't hear you," I said.

"LEVI!" she yelled rather loudly, into my ear. I recoiled back, clutching my throbbing ear.

"Somebody called?"

I turned around, stunned. It was Levi, holding a fishing net.

"Oh, uh, Levi! What a surprise to see you here! Do you remember me? I'm Petra! I saw you a couple days ago at the market!" Petra said, her cheeks flushing crimson.

Levi just stared at her, shaking his head.

"Oh, well umm..." Petra mumbled, embarrassed.

"But I do remember you, Kira," He said, motioning to me. Petra looked furious.

"How do you guys know each other?" She asked, her arms folded over her chest.

"He helped me in a... um, sticky situation, I guess,' I mumbled, not wanting to make Petra even mor furious.

"Well isn't that lovely! But Levi, what are you doing here?" Petra asked. Levi rolled his eyes.

"Fishing, obviously," he said, holding his fishing net up.

"Oh wow! I didn't know you could fish! No wonder you're so strong!" Petra said flirtatiously. Levi just sighed, annoyed.

"Whatever. I'm leaving you now. Goodbye," and with that he turned back around and walked off.

"Goodbye Levi!" Petra yelled, slightly disheartened.

She then looked at me, angrily.

I was fucked.
