[ gun shots / angst ]
The light came streaming in as his soul was laid to rest.
Friends and family, all gathered around, shuffled damply amidst the trickling droplets of rain, to bid their farewells. A memorial service was offered for the dead, where many of the living saluted their late friend goodbye. One of them was Oikawa.
Oikawa was dressed in a elegant black button up polo, denim blue jeans and navy blue boat shoes. His tawny hair was a little more tousled than usual. He peered down at the dead body, gripping his written eulogy in hand before shakily placing it back into his pocket.
"Makki was one of my closest friends since high school. I could tell you so much about him..." he began, his voice swaying with the gushing wind around them. The crowd sympathized with him.
As he finished, he caught a glimpse of his other best friend, Mattsun who had broken into tears the nth time that day. Oikawa stepped off the podium and walked over to him.
"He didn't deserve this, Mattsun," he said quietly, offering the umbrella to the shriveled man. "We'll find the killer and take him out. We'll get justice for his death."
Mattsun stared at the open space of tombstones around their area. The air smelt of pale flowers and urns. The rain only made it more depressing to look at. "I-I can't live another day knowing his killer is still out there. We need to find him."
"The police are doing everything they can to investigate the murder," Oikawa said, glancing upwards at the sudden noise of the screeching crows overhead.
"Clearly not enough," Mattsun gripped his fists. "It's been days since his death and so far we haven't gotten a list of suspects!" He glanced at Oikawa. "You-you have to help me find the killer."
"Makki—"
"You will help me find the killer, Oikawa," Mattsun said firmly. "Do this for Makki."

The passing days were spent in the coffee shop near their university, drowning in shrill cups of coffee and cheesecakes. Three o clock. They always met at three o clock after their 2:30 class in the table by the corner.
Oikawa was dragging his feet day by day, trying to get through this arduous classes without thinking of the night the murder happened. Makki was in his own dorm late at night when a man broke in and shot him dead. They only heard the gunshots from outside.
They all saw the blood. They all watched his skin turn pale and lifeless. They all watched the body bag engulf their friend. But nobody could testify who did it or what their intentions were.
"Can you please narrate it again," Mattsun prompted one afternoon. "One more time. Perhaps you missed out on an important detail or something."
"We've been over this," Oikawa frowned. He took a sip of his latte. "And again, I can't tell you exact details because I only witnessed the aftermath!"
"Oikawa," Mattsun said in a low voice. His eyes were tearing on his own, as if all the secrets of the murder were within him. "One more time. Please." He requested.
Oikawa sighed. "Fine. But this is the last okay?" Mattsun neither acknowledged or denied. "Alright, uh, it was around 10:30 and I was finishing some research papers. When I stood up to go to the bathroom, I heard the shuffling of footsteps. It was light, but since it was really quiet that night, I could hear it well. Then I thought you know it was just someone going home, but then I heard one gunshot. Just one. I heard someone running away. But I didn't go out because I was freaked out! Then I don't know. I found the courage to and I saw Makki's door was open and he was lying dead just a few steps inside his apartment. I freaked out and called the paramedics. Then the rest of the guys on the floor who were there started coming out."
