Background: This scene takes place now. After everything had happened.
Ze walked to his window and drew open his curtain. It was a nice day outside, as he wrote it to be. Birds flew overhead and a gentle breeze swayed the lush, green grass. White fluffy clouds dotted the sky and yellow poppies were scattered among the green.
It was a peaceful day in the castle, nothing much was happening. Everyone was going about their usual routine. Maisy was in the laboratory working on his latest inventions, Antony was on the 30th storey working with the animals, Casey was filing papers in Domo's office while the Headmaster himself was visiting his father and Carson and Carol were sparring in the training room.
What was Jean and Rowan up to?
Ze walked back to his work desk and flipped the pages of his book. Oh yes, the girls were out in the forest collecting herbs for Dr. Glactica.
It was always a quiet day whenever Jayna was not around. He went back to the window to enjoy the scenery. Quiet and calm days meant that he had less work to do. A movement in the medow caught his eye. It was Jayna, coming through the portal from her world.
She was not scheduled to arrive today! Ze frowned and checked his book. No, today was planned to be a Jayna-less day.
He peered out of the window again and saw a boy behind Jayna.
Stuart, Ze thought with relief. Which meant that the girl was not Jayna, but it was Kendal. Either way, he was going to get busy again. He tore out the next few pages of the book and dipped his quill into the ink. Kendal's arrival meant that he had to change the story for the next few days.
Just as he put the quill to the parchment to write, nothing came out. There was no ink. Ze picked up the bottle of ink and raised it to the light. Not a drop left. It was time to refill.
Ink, ink, ink... Ze thought to himself as he searched the shelves for a new bottle of ink. There was only one bottle left and when he pulled it out, a piece of parchment from an ancient book dropped out.
He picked it up and started reading it. "This could be an interesting and even beneficial addition to my story. I've just created the land I need and Casey's family. Something was missing, I had thought to myself. And then that was when I saw her. The girl in my dreams – she was the one who can make this world complete. In my dream, this girl – long, jet-black hair, dark eyes, fair skin, average height – she was talking to a group of her closet friends. There was a boy called Stuart and a girl named Alexis. I didn't know where they come from or who they were. But I had a good feeling about the girl. I couldn't remember what her name was, but I want to put her into my story. And I will name her Jayna."
Ze felt his blood run cold as a chill ran down his spine. That was a page from his diary thousands of years ago when he first created his world. This meant that he had created the character Jayna. But that was impossible! He had not created her. She had a story of her own – a life of her own! He could not control her story, instead, she wrote it herself.
Ze felt like there was a part of the story he did not know, there was a missing piece of information and he made a mental note to ask Kenn about it the next time they met. He tried hard to push away all thought that he could have created Jayna. He focused on the other part of the diary entry. "...she was talking to a group of her closet friends. There was a boy called Stuart and a girl named Alexis..." Stuart and Alexis were Kendal's friends. This meant that the girl he had seen in his dream was Kendal! He knew he had abilities of foresight, but he never thought that he would...
He recalled the conversation he had with Stuart and Casey a few centuries ago. "There must be a reason Jayna and Kendal looked exactly identical!" Stuart exclaimed. "Yeah," Casey agreed. "Doppelganger isn't something that exists without a purpose!" "Strangley, I am the one that is telling you two to relax. I believe it's just a coincidence because the two girls come from different dimensions," Ze said.
But now Ze knew better. It was not a coincidence that Kendal and Jayna looked identical. Kendal was not just Jayna's doppelganger. Neither were they the same person.
The diary parchment floated to the ground as Ze released his grip. His hands were trembling too much from shock. This was too much to take in.
Someone knocked on the door.
"Come...in..." he said, dazed.
The door opened and there stood Kendal and Stuart.
Ze froze. There she was – the girl that inspired the creation of Jayna.
