I listened as my father yelled at me over getting pregnant by an American journalist who visited here in Kenya often.
"How could you go against our family's traditions you are a princess"! He roared at me. So I decided to talk back for a change because I was older now and I could make all of my decisions on my own without help from them
"You're right I'm a Princess not a Queen!! I don't sit on a throne and call orders she does" I pointed to my mother
"How dare you back y'all me"! He clutch his heart
"I am in love with him I don't care if he's white, black, yellow or navy blue he's mine and I won't put up with anymore of the disrespectful words from you, I'll just leave and I'll be out of your hairs for good"! I stormed away
"Yes! Leave"! I packed my bag calling the American Embassy here in Kenya to connect with David

"IM SICK OF IT GET ME AWAY FROM HERE NOW"! I shouted and cried, instantly I heard shuffling in the phone
"I'm on my way now, you have your things"? He asked breathing heavily
"Yes I have everything except for clothes"
"That's fine N'Dare I'll get you everything you need once we land in New York tomorrow" he told me and I smiled
"How far are you" I asked
"Two minutes away now come outside and stop stressing you're 6 months pregnant" he laughed pulling up
I got in and we took off, that was the last time I seen my parents or anyone in my family.
