Prologue

Thousands of years ago, there was a great war between the royals and the other species. The entire realm had been united under one king, known as the first demon king, for the first time, and the Elementals, Sorcerers, and Human felt that they weren't treated the same as the royals . It reached a breaking point when the king of the Elementals, a dragon, was found to be the mate of the demon king and fled from him. This enraged both the king and the royals, so they proclaimed war upon the 'treasonous' elemental, sorcerers, and humans who protected the runaway mate of the king. Battle after battle was fought between these two species until the infamous battle of ash plains. One by one, the sorcerers and elementals defected, leaving the fire elementals and humans. The battle seemed to be as easy victory for the royals until the dragon, having seen his people being slaughtered so brutally, went to battle. He broke through lines of royal soldiers and his old allies until he reached his mate, the demon king. Having fought for so long, the dragon had not much more fight left in him. Upon seeing his advancing mate, he lunged but was stopped by his mate. The dragon used the last bit of his strength to run and hide. As he ran, he was able to barely outpace the demon, but when he turned his back to see where they went, he ran into his greatest ally, the wyvern king who had been his right hand in commanding the army. The wyvern king had hated the fact that he was not in charge and felt inferior to the dragon king, so he conspired against the king. When he ran into the dragon king while he was panicking, he realized that this was his golden opportunity to gain both control of the Elementals and the favor of the royals; he grabs his sword and plunges it deep into the dragon's chest. As the king falls to his knees in shock, the demon king and royal army catch up to him and see the dragon bleeding out. The wyvern king smiles in pride and asks the royal army if they're happy with how he has apprehended this criminal. The demon king glares and lunges at him, but his advisers hold him back and tell him to try and save his mate. The dragon king, with his last bit of energy, looks at his mate and grins as he says, "It seems even in death I'll evade you, king. This outcome was inevitable. The only variable in this situation would have been who killed who. Have a good life. Without me."After his death, the king banished the humans to the uninhabitable realm and proclaimed all fire elementals slaves and exiled them to the volcanic plains, the location of his mate's death. The demon king made the sorcerers enchant jewelry that every fire element had to wear to limit their power. Fire elementals are given a suppressor to limit their power once they turn 8. These suppressors were made to protect the monster realm from future uprisings.
