I felt pressure on my shoulders through my dreaming state before my body started to shake. My eyes popped open to reveal Leo standing over head shaking me, “good morning blue!” he sang out and I let out a slow groan, “what!” Leo produced two plates of four pancakes staked high on a plate and suddenly he had all my attention. He flexed his muscled arms up so I had to sit up to reach my plate, “early morning we are on the road today!”he push them towards my once I was up and I dug in straight away.
We dressed quickly and silently then searched for forgotten items before hauling our bags out the door and making our way down to the lobby again. Leo took both bags again and I took the guitar case, as we exited the elevator and made our way towards Samantha? Yeah Samantha. She saw us coming and knocked on the door behind her, Javier came straight out and waved at us, “so you going so soon!” Leo smiled and passed over our key, “yeah! On the lookout for her father who lives in la!” Javier smiled, “good luck!” we walked hand in hand out of the hotel and to the front where Charlie sat, “thanks boys!” the parking people smiled before scattering and handing over the keys, Leo chucked the bags under the seat bit and I re arranged the guitar/ skateboard properly and waited for him to get on so I could sit behind. He eventually did and I wrapped my arms around him, “microphones working, check, helmets on, check, ready to go, check, blue here we go!” the bike took off leaving people in our dust as we made our way back to another highway.
Neither Leo nor I knew what towns or cities we were going through or our way around America, all we knew was we had to head in a certain direction and when we see a sign labelled los Angeles we turn in and then we follow directions to his studio or home. I snapped out from my thoughts as I felt cold wet splashes hitting my hands, I turned my helmet cover upwards to see a very angry black sky, “Leo we need to get off the road now, those clouds are lightning and Charlie plus lightening equals disaster!” I heard a sigh, “okay, looks like we’ll have another none travelling day! Look the next exit has our hotel on so we shall have to go there. “ he turned off at the exit and by now the thunder was rattling everywhere and the whole place was dark with sound of harsh pelting rain banging against the cars. To say this storm was going to pass fast was the understatement of the millennium!
This hotel worked the same as the last. The parking people would take the bike, we’d go in and ask for a guy, get given a key and go up in the glass elevator, déjà vu is what I’d say. The room was on the ninth floor again and contained the exact same things as the last. Leo put down our bags and we looked out the wrap around window in the living room at the dark world and the patterns the lightning created in the sky. A ticking of a clock had me looking at it and the time, “ it’s only twelve, what you want to do?” Leo shrugged but then grinned as I took off his guitar, “pool?” I nodded and he opened the desk draw pulling out pool info, “we have twenty minutes till it opens. Should we get dressed and go down?” smiling I closed all the curtains so we couldn’t see the weather and I sat on the rug. I settled his case and looked up at Leo who stood leaning against the far wall. My fingers glided from fret to fret holding down chords, the music came from the guitar softly as I expertly played, Leo stared wide eyed, “what’s that song?” I smiled, “homesick by a day to remember!” Leo looked down at me, “that’s one of my favourite songs but do you want to get ready now?” I put down the guitar on the rug and smiled taking his outstretched hand, pulling myself up, “good thinking!” I walked away from him to the bathroom taking my bag with me.
Leo’s point of view
She could play guitar too! How can one girl be so beautiful and so talented a horse rider and guitarist without her being non exist….. but rick, god is ty had not killed him, man I would have with my bare hands on his throat. I felt my phone vibrate and I pulled it out, pressing it to my ear, “hello!” “Leo, its mother, erm we’ve found something out about blues father….” I groaned, “don’t tell me please!” “erm well okay, Leo your father says not to travel tomorrow because of the weather so start off the day after and please son don’t lose her! I want grandbabies and a wedding soon!” I chuckled, “okay mom, loud and clear!” “bye sweetheart!” the line went dead. Putting my phone back into my pocket I walked over to my bag and carried it to the bedroom to get changed, Oooo I get to see her in a swim suit…..
