My name is Irdalah. I am half fire-demon. I can control fire the way Elsa controls ice. I am nineteen with red eyes and gold hair. Popular belief says that fire-demons are ugly, with glowing eyes and horns. We are actually quite beautiful. I am also part vampire. I live in silence, for I am the only one left like me. I am the most feared person on earth.
Why?
Because I am hellbent on finding my heart.
*******
I walk into the hall as night slowly creeps in over my sleeping victim. My fingers are ablaze, giving me light. My fangs slide into place as i crouch over the murderer. He wakes, due to the heat I'm giving off.
"Get away, monster!" He cries. This mortal is clearly terrified as he backs away into the corner. "Who are you!?" He asks, shaking.
"Your worst nightmare," I growl as I sink my fangs into his neck.
I drink my fill. He'll be found soon. But I'm hailed as a death omen in the mortal world. But I want my heart back. I feel a pang right where it should be, but instead it no longer beats within my chest. I flick my long blonde hair over my shoulder as I lick the blood off my fangs. Once clean, they slide into their hidden place in my upper jaw.
I fight to feel my heart beat, but to no avail. It's still missing. I sigh. This murderer is not the one who stole my heart.

As a baby, I lay in my crib as my vampire father and demoness mother smiled over me, I giggled. then the house turned bright blue as a strange man walked in. A silver stake to my father's heart felled him instantly. My mother pleaded with the man to not harm herself or the baby, but other than that, he killed her.
Then knelt down, plunged his hand into my chest, and walked off with a black and red beating orb in his hand. After that, I have no feelings.

I look up, seeing the sun break above the horizon. I hiss, displeased my hunting time is over. I sigh, and dissipate into the air, vanishing just as the sun's rays hit the place I was standing.
"Elliot!" I bark as my feet touch the cold stone floor of my hall. My manservant scurries in.
"Yes, madam?" He squeaks. His voice is so annoying. I take my bloody tunic off and fling it at him.
"Clean this. Before that, bring me my book of names." I stalk off, my bra covering the only important places. I slam the door to my study, causing the walls to shake.
I run my hands through my hair. I am beyond frustrated. "Augh!"
Every book on my desk flies to the floor immediately. I punch the desk.
"WHERE THE FUCK IS IT?" I look up at the walls, each one covered in layers of posters, each one a murderer. I seize the book from Elliot and wave him off. I'm surprised I hadn't heard him come in the room. I know better than to let someone sneak up on me like that.
I flip the book open to the first blank page and start writing the details of tonight's hunt. I purr in satisfaction as I recount the look on his face while I drained him.
I hear a knock on my door, and I answer without looking up. "What is it, Chief?"
A tall, dark-skinned man in a police uniform steps into my office. "We got a call, Irdalah. Jason Kennedy was found dead in his bed this morning. No blood in him at all, no wounds either. We also found a graveyard of human remains in thr backyard. You know anything about it?" He raises an eyebrow, looking at me.
I feign innocence, but I still don't look up from my task. "Oh, no, that's awful. I wonder who could have done this!" I roll my eyes.
"Bullshit, Irdalah. I know for a fact you know exactly how he died!"
I shoot up from my chair, slamming my hands in the desk. "And so what if I do?! Do you really think anyone going to believe that a VAMPIRE HYBRID killed him? Not a chance, Woodstone. You know as well as I do that I hunt them for what was stolen from me, and from my parents!" My eyes have literal flame licking the pupils, and my hands spark dangerously. Woodstone backs up, hands raised slightly.
"I can't keep covering for you, Irdalah. And more over, I can't keep letting you kill people! They have a right to a trial and all that." He heads to the door. "I'm assigning you a handler. His name is Cole Bradford, he'll be here to keep you out of trouble."
I drop back into my chair, astounded. "You're giving me a babysitter?"
"If that's what you want to call it, yes. Cole arrives in an hour. And Irdalah? Get some sleep. You look like hell."
"I am hell." He chuckles as he leaves. I sigh, burying my face in my hands.
I get up and walk to my room, stripping and stepping into the already steaming shower. Woodstone must have had Elliot run it. I smile harshly.
I lose track of time in the warm spray, watching dried blood swirl down the drain. I hear a knock on my door. "Miss Yamada? The officer Chief Woodstone sent has arrived."
"Thank you, Elliot. Show him his room," I say dryly.
Stepping out of the water, I heat my body up with my fire. My body and hair dry instantly. I quickly throw on a dark red tunic and black leggings before I open the door.
My bare footsteps echo softly on the stone as I head to my kitchen, pulling out random items from the fridge.
"Whatcha making?"
In less than a heartbeat, I'm at my intruder's throat, fangs bared and eyes flaming. The tips of my hair are on fire too. My hand is wrapped around their throat and they are dangling in midair against the wall.
I finally take a good look at this person. The uniform, the gun, the biceps.....oh my god, his face. He was beautiful, in a demon kind of way.
Then the uniform clicks. I drop the man, and growl low in my chest before I manage to spit words out. "You must be Cole Bradford. Two things. One, NEVER AGAIN sneak up on me if you feel like living. Two, don't ever speak to me." I turn around and put the food away. My appetite is gone.
"Woah..." he wheezes. His throat is bruising, and he coughs. "When the Chief said watch a vampire, I thought he was joking." Even in his stupid state, he smirks at me.
I roll my eyes, stepping over him and gliding away. He follows me.
"Do you turn into a bat? Eat people? Laugh like Dracula? Damn, I thought vampires were supposed to be ugly, but you're smoking hot. Haha, and why were you are fire?!" I growl again, and whirl around, making him skid to a stop in his tracks. I press a red fingernail to his chest.
"Don't speak, idiot human. Unless you wish for me to keep you as a personal food source, you will leave me in peace." My words hold the tone of angered warning, and I stalk back into my room.
I fall on my bed, and instantly, I fall asleep, my dreams haunting me.
*I hear the screams of my mother, see the room glowing the brightest blue. I begin to cry, as i turn my head to see my father on the floor, the stake jutting from his chest like an ugly ornament. I suddenly feel pain, and i cry harder, but only for a moment, as I see a man above me, illuminated by only a red and black swirling orb. He cackles, and I feel nothing. He stalks off, and the glow fades from view*
I wake, sweating. I glance at my clock. Seven pm. I groan, getting up and slipping into my freshly cleaned black hunting tunic and cape. I sharpen my nails, and apply just enough makeup to look good while still being deadly. I sharpen each of my weapons, strapping them to my body, concealing them. My boots are the last to be laced up, and by the time I am done, it's nine. I open my door and slip into the hall, heading for my front door. Just as I am about to vanish for my hunt, I hear a deep voice directly behind me.
"Where are you going, Irdalah?"

Vampire"Why are you fighting me, Irdalah?" His voices breathes in my ear. I clench my fists, breathing heavily. "You know I feel only anger, Cole." "And why is that?" He asks, his lips nearly touching my own. "Because I am hellbent on finding my heart." **...
