3:32 p.m.

"Ok, Luna, just work the counter like we have been together for the past hour and you'll be fine. If you have any questions don't hesitate to hollar for help." Janice, my manager instructed, smiling and patting my shoulder before walking back into the kitchen.

"Ok..." I mused, staring blankly at the cash register in front of me. I had been here thirty two minutes, and my nerves still hadn't dissolved, which I blamed on Tom's relentless teasing that he was going to swing by to see me in my uniform.

Smiling shyly when I heard the bell on the door jingle, I glanced up and gulped nervously when my eyes landed on Danny Garcia, the football captain of the school.

He had always been very pushy, especially when the rest of the squad was with him, but luckily for me it appeared he was alone today. He grinned cockily, casting his glance in my direction before making his way towards the register.

Now that the drive-thru had been installed hardly anybody actually came inside the place.

"Where's Tim at?" He spoke, eyes glazing over the menu above our heads before looking down at my small trembling form.

"Welcome to Burger Shack, what can I get for you? A-and also his name is Tom not Tim." I corrected, cheering myself on inside at the fact that I had dared to correct someone who thought he was more important than others.

"Doesn't matter, it's not like he exists in my universe anyway...." he scoffed, rolling his eyes slightly before scanning my body over.

"You look pretty cute in that uniform though, how about you get me some fries to go along with that shake?"

'Fucking pig...' I thought, biting down on my lip to keep from screaming it at him as my hand clenched into a tight ball.

"What flavor shake would you like?" I deflected, hoping that by doing so my dealings with him would move quicker and I could send him and his greasy food on their merry way.

"No..." he snorted, grinning as he leaned forward towards me over the counter that separated us, "it's a complement."

I blushed, "o-oh ok, just um, what would you like though I mean we - you're..." I paused, mentally cursing myself when I glanced over his shoulder and saw no customers behind him.

"Are you dating Tim - or excuse me Tom?"

"No, we're just friends why?" My head was swimming now, and my palms began to sweat. If there ever was a time I wished I could telepathically communicate with others it was now and I mentally cursed myself about choosing the counter over the drive-thru.

"Just curious, are you going to homecoming with anybody?"

The bell rang pulling my eyes away from Danny's large block head and over to the door, breathing a sigh of relief when I saw Tom and our friend Ben walk in.

"Looney Tune, where's my fries?" He shouted loudly, snickering when he saw a small smile cross my lips.

"No, I'm not, now if you'd please so I can get to the other people in line..." I motioned, to the lanky, awkward looking pair of nerds behind him known as my friends.

"Yeah! I'm starving." Ben squeaked, winking at me before quickly moving to stand behind Danny and Tom, making me titter as I tapped my fingers on the counter.

"Luna, do you want to go with me? I know in the past I haven't really had anything to do with you, but these past few years I see you go by in the hallway and -"
