"139..." I repeated quietly, searching for the exam room that Tom was currently sat in. I still had guilt hanging over me about ditching Mike to immediately come be with Tom. Stumbling slightly, I pushed open the door on room 139 and instantly felt nauseous.
Strawberry blonde hair, blue eyes, perfect peaches and cream complexion, there she sat in all her glory. I had dreaded running into Molly, especially since I'd let Tom convince me to help him with this whole fake dating plan.
"Hey, Looney Tune!" Tom chirped, holding a tissue up to his nose to catch any blood that dripped out. I smiled, watching him motion for me to move closer to him.
"How're you feeling?"
"Pretty good, I'm just waiting to have the doctor come fix my nose. How'd you find out I was here?" He beamed, his blue eyes watching my every move as if he was amazed I'd come to be with him.
"Mom told me you were here and I demanded she bring me." I admitted shyly, smiling a bit when a chuckle escaped his thin lips and he patted my hand with his free one, before Molly cleared her throat roughly making me halt.
"H-hello, Molly." My voice shaking as my eyes darted around the room to avoid her glare.
"Luna." Her voice booming through the now silent room, "Shouldn't you be out and about with that other boy you're always with?"
"I-I was worried about Tom and -"
"Really?" She hissed, moving over to grab Tom's free hand that wasn't holding the tissue, bumping into me in the process.
"Yeah, he's pretty important to me."
"Pretty important? So that's why you were cheating on him with that other boy?"
"Molly, I don't know what you're talking about." I lied, I wasn't gonna bring Mike into this anymore than I already had. It wouldn't be fair to do that.
"Yes you do! I saw you huddled up together at the movies."
She had caught me red handed and there was no way I was gonna be able to talk my way out of this without ratting Tom and his plan out. Molly had obviously staked her claim on him again because he just continued to sit there quietly, blue eyes staring blankly into space, obviously a bit uncomfortable with the argument he was quite literally in the middle of.
"Maybe you should just leave, you've already done enough damage as it is. If it weren't for you he wouldn't be beat up and limping around." She hissed, pointing at the door. She knew exactly which buttons to push, I'd never do anything to purposely hurt Tom and I hoped he knew that. I already felt guilty enough about his fight with Danny without her having to pour salt into the proverbial wound.
"I-I'll see you around Tommy." I murmured, making my way back towards the door I had just come through.
"If you're lucky enough." Her voice echoed, making me want to jam my fingers into my ears. Ignoring her statement the best I could I went back down the hallway, my heart aching slightly for some reason I couldn't yet place.
Sighing, I continued down the hallway to the small payphone in the hospital lobby. Dialing the number for Ben's house and hoping he'd pick up, now that I'd lost Tom I only really had Ben. The phone seemed like it was ringing for an eternity before anybody picked up.
"Hello? Ben?"
"Yeah? Is this Looney Tune?"
"You know damn well you're not allowed to call me that!" I laughed, my small outburst attracting the attention of the people nearby.
