6 - Bringing Back Memories

All I can do is apologize. I'll go straight into the story.

Your P.O.V

I had calmed down a little and was crying silent tears when a hand was placed on my shoulder. I looked up in surprise to see Kaname Kuran. I jumped backwards in fright and pulled out my gun the Dying Flower, pointing it straight at him.

"Don't touch me!" I spat with hatred yet he still remained calm and stood there. I slowly backed away.

"You really are pathetic, (Y/N). You have no self control over your bloodlust or your feelings." He said calmly. 

"Just...Just leave me alone..." I said struggling to think of what to say. He chuckled in amusement and before I could even process what had happened, my gun was sent across the grass and I was pinned to the floor.

"I guess we all lose control of our bloodlust sometimes." He smirked. His eyes shone a deep shade of red and my eyes widened in fear, I was scared and I struggled but I couldn't break free from his terrible grasp. His sharp pearly white fangs bit into my skin and brought back memories. I tried to scream but my throat was sore and dry and my (E/C) eyes soon matched his red ones. With hatred and frustration building up inside me I pushed him off me. I sprinted away and continued running through the forest until I bumped into someone. I quickly apologized, not even looking at who it was, and continued to run. Whoever I bumped into grabbed my wrist, in fear of it being Kaname I struggled and struggled to escape. But it wasn't Kaname.

"(Y/N)!(Y/N)! Stop struggling it's just me." They said and pulled me into a tight hug. I looked up at him with glossy eyes...It was Zero... I buried my head in his chest and couldn't stop the tears from falling. It seems like all I do is cry but I wouldn't cry without reason. I was just having an emotional day I guess. 

"(Y/N) what's wrong? (Y/N)?" He asked, to which he didn't get an answer. He would have definitely smelled my blood but he must have been controlling himself for my sake. 

"Let's go back to my room, you can tell me there...Or at least freshen up." He suggested, it was odd when Zero was caring since he usually acted quite coldly so I nodded and he held my hand to lead me back to my dorm.

I was still shaking when we reached his dorm. With my hand still in his we sat on the bed. He picked up a tissue and gently wiped the tears off my cheeks. I took a deep breath to calm myself down.

"K-Kaname b-bit me a-and it just b-brought back m-memories." I hiccuped then looked down in sorrow. He looked at me in shock and said with anger:

"I'll...I'll kill that disgusting leech! He can't get away with this! Go freshen up, when you're done we'll go see Headmaster Cross. Then he'll really see what beast he's trying to tame!"

I had never seen Zero this angry in a long time. I washed my face and neck in the bathroom as quickly as possible then went back over to Zero. 

"Ready?" He asked. I nodded in return. He held my hand and lead me to the headmaster's office, I couldn't concentrate after everything that happened and why was he holding my hand again?

Zero glanced in my direction as he dragged me down the hall, his grip tightening around my wrist at the slightest movement.

"It's alright Zero." I said to which he looked back at me obviously not convinced.

"Kaname isn't her-..."

"He's in this building all the time, (Y/n). How could you possibly know that?" His reply was stern but gentle as he made it quite clear that he was worried about me.

When Zero kept quiet as he lead me up the stairs I knew the conversation had ended. As we approached the headmaster's door, Zero stopped in front of the door, and turned towards me.

"Let me do all the talking, okay?" I nodded in reply as he opened the door for me and I walked in.

At the front of the room, sitting at his desk, sat the headmaster. His gaze lifted from a pile of papers onto us with a smile but it faded as Zero began to speak. His tone was no longer gentle but icy and cold as he spoke.

"Kana-..." Zero started but Mr.Cross shook his head, his mood changing as he heard those words.

"Why is everything about Kaname? Can't we talk about our dear (Y/N) for once?" Mr.Cross interrupted.

"That's why I'm here!" Zero yelled, slamming his hands onto the desk startling both me and Headmaster Cross.

"That bastard bit (Y/N)!" As he said this I shivered, reminiscing the bite, and placed one of my cold hands on my neck.

"He bit (Y/N)?" Surprise was the last thing on the headmaster's face. It was everything but that.

"Now why would he do that?"

"I'm not sur-..." Zero said but was interrupted once again.

"Perhaps a better question would be, why are you here?" Zero's gaze narrowed as a scowl replaced his normally expressionless features.

"I just told you! Kaname bit-..." Zero began only to be cut off by the headmaster again.

"Zero, why are you here?" His question was repetitive and it was only irritating Zero as his knuckles began turning white as he gripped the edge of the desk. My gaze flickered to Zero as he responded once more only this time his gaze was on me.

"To protect (Y/N)! To keep her safe..." His lilac orbs softened as those words left his mouth before turning towards the giggling headmaster. 

"And why are you doing that?" Mr. Cross asked holding back another fit of giggles.

Zero's gaze narrowed into slits as he went quiet. The only sound breaking the silence that had surrounded us was our breathing as both Cross and I waited for Zero to respond.

"What are you accusing me of?" His response was dry and humourless unlike the chuckles spilling out of the headmaster's lips.

"You may go." Kaien said.

"What?" Zero's eyes widen in disbelief but the headmaster motioned towards the door with a small gesture ignoring our confused gazes.

"I'll sort it out." He added, and with that we left.

I'll be writing another Zero x reader!!! Because I've had the idea in my head for a while and once I've finished the book I think I'll post it because I don't want anyone to have to wait for all the chapters like this book, haha! Anyway, here's a little paragraph from the start of it, can you guess which other Vampire Knight character is important to the new book?

A lit cigarette was dropped to the ground then stood on by a polished black boot as she let out one last cloud of smoke. The (h/c) haired girl continued to walk, somehow undetected, through the forest of the Academy with her (h/l) (h/c) hair slightly flowing in the cold wind.
