Lukas sighed as he shook his head. He was glad to be alone, in his own home with no one to bother him. Maybe he can actually get some reading done. He grabbed his book and made a cup of coffee before sitting down. The Norwegian sat the cup of coffee down on the table beside him as he opened the book and began to read. He read for a couple hours, the sun was down and he was unfocused on anything beside his book. He drank his coffee, little by little, determined to make it last until at least half way through. He jumped as someone suddenly sat beside him.
"Hey Norge," Matthias said with a beaming grin.
"How did you get in here?" The clearly startled blonde asked the Dane. Said Dane, held up Lukas' spare key. Lukas swore he had changed the hiding spot. Guess he found it anyways.
"What's this? 147 out of 147. I think I'm on a roll," Matthias said.
"Of breaking and entering? I wouldn't brag about that," he replied calmly, looking back at his book.
"Whatcha reading?" Lukas sighed as Matthias leaned over his shoulder.
"Great Expectations."
"Fancy," Matthias hummed before starting to read. Out loud. This resulted in Lukas putting his hand between the pages and shutting the book.
"Go home."
"But, Norge..."
"I am trying to read and you are distracting me. Go home." The pouting Dane stood and went to leave, causing Lukas to return to his book. That didn't last long because Matthias threw himself on the couch beside Lukas.
"So, I was on my way out and I realized something. I have never seen you smile. How come you don't smile?" Matthias asked. Lukas sighed. I do smile. Mostly at you. Just when you aren't paying attention but let's not boost your ego any more than it has, he thought.
"I have no reason to smile," came his reply.
"I mean. I think I give everyone a smile. Ya know, happiest country on the planet."
"Didn't Finland win that this year?"
"Yes but that's beside the point! I'm not leaving here until I get you to smile!" Lukas sighed. So much for a peaceful evening. He is in for a very long one.
So, Lukas bared with it, returning to his reading while Matthias tried different things, from pick up lines to jokes, to make cu- annoying faces. Hours ticked by, Lukas not responding to anything. It was hard to focus on his book but he managed.
"Norge. I'm bored," Matthias finally whined.
"Then go home."
"No. You still haven't smiled yet. I am not leaving here until you smiled. I don't care how loooooonnnnnnggggg it takes." Lukas rolled his eyes, continuing to read. Matthias was silent, just watching him. Almost to the end, coffee gone, Lukas felt some pressure on his shoulder. He looked over. Seems Matthias fell asleep. He smiled faintly and marked his page, shutting the book. He sat it down. He sighed and laid Matthias down with his head on his lap. He pet the Dane with a smile.
"Sleep well, Matthias," he said softly. He closed his own eyes and relaxed.
