Emil sighed as he sat in his room he was texting his boyfriend, who lives in China. He says boyfriend but that might be stretching it. Maybe. Possibly.  He doesn't know. For all he knows they could just be friends... with benefits. Soon there was to be a world meeting in England. The only thing Emil hates about being independent is that he is expected to go to world meetings.
Hey, Leon. Are you with your mom or dad? Emil waited for Leon's reply. It seemed to take forever.
Sorry, I was almost caught on my phone. Why does it matter?
     I just wanna know. Geez.
     My dad. Why?
     So England?
Like I already told you my dad. Seriously? Why do you want to know?
Because if you were with your dad I wanted to know if we could meet up for lunch when I fly in for the meeting.
     Oh...
     Emil, I go home tomorrow.
     Oh...
     Sorry.
Emil sighed and put his phone down, unsure how to respond from there. He looked at the time then googled the time it would be in London. Hm. Seems it is a few hours earlier for Emil. He sighed as he began to stare at the ceiling. He didn't know what to say still. Eventually he looked at his phone again.
Goodnight. Leon. He went to type I love you but deleted that. He then plugged in his phone and closed his eyes.
Leon frowned as he read the text. Goodnight, Emil. He plugged in his phone as well and turned to face the wall.
The two had similar thoughts that night. About how rarely they see each other. About how hard it is for Emil to go to China and how Leon can't get to Iceland. They both wished they had sent those three little words that meant so much. But it wasn't something either wanted to say over text. Both, cursed the time zones that normally kept them from talking. Then Emil's work that kept him from visiting when Leon was closer to the island Emil lived on. It was a never ending cycle of I want to see you, but I can't. One was always leaving when the other was arriving. It was agonizing. But one day, they would figure it out.
