My Grandmother had always complimented my playing, even when I was a young child. She encouraged me to make noises and sounds out of the piano, no matter how awful they were and how much they would scare the cats.
Since turning deaf, my Grandmother had stopped complimenting my playing so she could rub my back as I cried instead. I would never be able to hear her kind words ever again. I couldn't even hear my own voice. I hadn't spoken much since losing my ability to hear. Why would I want to, it wasn't like anyone would want to hear me, since I was now technically useless and unnecessary now.
