Today was the first official day at Barton High. I watched as teachers and faculty members raced around trying to get last minute touch ups before the students could finally be split up by grade and be given their schedules. I made my way through the crowd of anxious freshmen and other upper classmen, to find my good friend Milo. He was the Co-Captain of the cheerleading team, while I was the Captain. The other Captain and Co-Captain were seniors last year so the spots were available.

Over the summer I made it my business to get involved in some type of activity with the school. I had quickly decided to cheerleading since it was the last thing that was having try outs over the summer. I wanted to be the best of the best. I was very hesitant about becoming the Captain but decided to take a risk.

"Milo!" I grasped him in my arms for a hug, "I've missed you."

Milo returned the hug and laughed a bit at me being excited to see him.

"Awe glad to see that someone missed me."

I finally let go and stepped back a little to give him some space, "So first day back at Barton High how does it feel?" I joked.

"It feels marvelous, and I am just so eager to dive into some of these sophomore hotties." Milo said as he bit his lip as a group of guys walked past us.

I burst into laughter as I playfully hit him in his chest, "Milo you're so wild."

"Let's just say a cheetah is my spirit animal, purrr." Milo acted as if he had claws and scowled a bit.

Milo and I finally entered the school and noticed the signs for the different places where the other grades were being held. Freshmans were in the lunchroom, sophomores were in the gym, juniors were in the auditorium, and the seniors were in the courtyard.

I rolled my eyes and began to head towards the auditorium where the juniors were being held. I nervously eyed the many people who were settled in the comfortable chairs. It seemed as if there were thousands of them. I gulped and began to hesitate on walking into the auditorium.

"What? Something wrong?" Milo asked with a brow arched.

"No I'm fine, uh let's just go." I replied as I began to slowly stroll into the auditorium.

I felt Milo grab my arm and lead me to a group of girls that were on the squad, who sat in the top row with the best seats.

"Make way, make way for the two queens have arrived." Milo smirked as he gave a little pose.

The girls laughed as Milo took a seat in the row in front of us next to Bianca and Shelby and I took the seat next to Ariana , who was quite short to be in our grade.

"Okay so can we just talk about Kalila and Jaxon, the captain of the football team." Bianca said as she made me the center of attention and the rest if the girls shared their "oooo's and awe's"

"What? Guys there is nothing going on between us?" I assured them, "We just so happen to hang out a lot as friends of course but nothing more."

"Okay but he obviously likes you." Shelby added.

"Yeah, at the bonfire he was all over you, and he's pretty cute." Ariana spoke in her diminutive voice that nearly made her sound like a child.

I began to think of me back when I was telling myself to never allow myself to fall in love again, because of Jace. I was nearly overwhelmed by all the girls pushing me to be convinced that Jaxon liked me.

"Okay girls let's face it, yeah Jaxon likes Kal but she is clearly in denial, now can we please head to the next topic." Milo chimed in as he gave me a reassuring look.
