Melina POV

"Aren't you supposed to put a silver coin or something on the board?"I asked a little nervous about trying to contact the dead. "You should, but I don't have one so we're gonna skip that step. Come on, let's do this." Alexis replied naively. We all placed our fingers on the triangular plastic thing that I couldn't, at the moment, think of the name of. The others pushed the plastic triangle in a circle a few times, dragging my fingers along "1. 2. 3. 4," Alexis counted out the cycles, one for each of us. It was, then, pushed back to the center of the board so my curly headed friend could begin the questions. "Is anyone there?" She began. For about 30 seconds nothing happened. "Hello?" she called out once again to the musty, dark room. Much to my dismay, it started moving. A, U, S, T, Y, N.

"Austyn? Is that your name?" Alexis seemed excited. The whitish-yellow plastic moved to "Yes".

"Were you a nurse?" Alexis asked next. "NO. P, A, T..." "You were a patient then, huh." it was more stated than asked, but whatever we were talking to still replied Yes. "Ummm. Did you die in the fire?" T, G, 2, B, F.

"What the does that mean?" Alexis looked up at the rest of us, asking about the seemingly random characters.

"Too good to be forgotten," Zoe answered quietly.

"Maybe we should stop. This is starting to worry me," I suggested.

"What's too good to be forgotten?" Alexis continued anyway, seemingly taking no notice that I had even spoken. What a bitch. I was so busy focusing on my growing anxiety that I almost missed the supernatural entity's next comment. I,L,L,S,H,O,W,Y,O,U.

I knew that was bad. "Alexis, no!" I looked up as the ground began to tremble. The concrete beneath my ass started to crack and split. I crawled backwards rapidly, watching as my friends failed to do the same. "NO!" I screamed as the growing void swallowed them. I was frozen in fear. All I could do was watch them as they disappeared into blackness. Alexis. Zoe. Sami. They were gone.

Zoe's voice brought me back to reality. "Fucking run you dumb bitch!" I stood and ran at the door as quick as I could, looking around for my friend but not finding her. I ungracefully made a path through the debris, racing as fast as I could towards the exit. I tried to get back towards the car, but several... things were on the path with me, I was too exasperated to count exactly how many there were. They were glowing white, nearly transparent, humanoid shapes.

I crashed into the old administration building and went up the stairs in a blind panic, looking desperately for somewhere to hide. That place ended up being underneath a bed in what I could only assume used to be a nurses room. As my heart rate started returning to normal, a thought went through my mind, causing my adrenaline levels to shoot back up. If this place caught fire, then why was there a perfectly intact mattress above my head. I crawled out and inspected the rest of the room. It was spotless. From the lovely baby blue and yellow paint on the walls, to the gorgeous dark oak window frames and door, everything was perfectly intact. There was even a vanity still sitting against the wall across the from me.

I wandered over and started to inspect it. It seemed like something from Ikea. You know, those mass made, do it yourself, furniture pieces with useless instruction manuals. I started opening the drawers without really knowing what I was looking for. They were full various pieces of jewelry and out of date makeup items. The dates said they were from the late 1980's. Just before the fire.

I opened the last of the four drawers, surprised to find that it only contained one thing. It was a crystal pendant in the shape of a heart. My fingertips brushed the wood on the bottom of the drawer as I picked up the pendant. I felt electricity jolt through me and closed my eyes, seeing bright colors instead of the darkness I expected.

I all of a sudden felt angry for no apparent reason. I didn't remember being bipolar. Then a voice spoke, though it wasn't talking to me, "Fucking Ashley. Dumb bitch just had to quit, didn't she."

My eyes began to focus the world in front me. I was in the same room, sitting in front of the vanity. It was daytime now. I watched myself grab the hairbrush that was laying on the table. I looked up to see what I was doing. Fear rushed through me as I realized that the reflection I was seeing wasn't mine.
