Chapter 5

(unedited)

"I'm nervous." I admitted to Xavier as we got closer to his parents room. First impressions were nerve wrecking in my case.

I had met his dad yesterday and I could tell immediately that we wouldn't get a long. All hope of being accepted by his parents were gone the day he agreed with Bethany. I knew I had to be polite to him and show him respect but I just couldn't help the boiling in my veins when I remembered the look in his eyes when he saw me. It was a look of disapproval. He was hiding it well but not well enough.

"Yesterday was a catastrophe," he said as if reading my mind "but when you see the soft side of my parents you'll love 'em."

"Yeah right." I said with a snort.

He looked at me with hurt shown clear in his eyes. I immediately felt bad for what I said.

He sighed before saying, "Listen, I love you, but they are my parents. I need you to remember that."

I stopped abruptly at his words. Was he choosing his parents over me?

"I don't care about your parents. I only want you. Screw them. If they try to get in the way of our relationship I'll just have to-"

"NO! You are NOT going to do anything to them. Do you understand me?" He boomed, his voice echoing through the halls.

"Do you understand me?!" He yelled again, his eyes turning a dark shade of blue. I trembled at his tone and almost fell to the floor at his harshness. This is exactly what I meant by his increasingly short temper.

"Go to hell." I yelled before turning on my heel and storming into his parent's room. His parents stood there a little shaken with my sudden entrance but I didn't care. Xavier wanted me to his parents, did he? Well, here I was.

I had to admit, we had been getting into fights a lot after I saw him shift into a wolf. It was like we were complete opposites now. I always got mad at him and he always got mad at me. At the end of it we'd both be screaming down each other's throats. With all the fighting we did I never got the chance to find out more about mates. It was pissing me off.

"You called me?" I asked with bitterness clear in my tone.

I heard footsteps behind me and soon enough Xavier was there to join our little party. I turned around, facing him with a deathly glare. He looked extremely hurt and his eyes practically begged me for forgiveness. I huffed out before turning my gaze away from his. It pained me deeply to see him look so hurt but remembering what he had said to me earlier I kept up my bitchy attitude. I was stupid, I knew that perfectly well, but I also knew he needed to get a taste of his own medicine.

I was about to make another rude comment but was interrupted by the devil himself. "Mom, dad, sorry but can you please excuse us for a minute."

I stared at him wide eyed before taking in the shocked looks his parents held. "Um, well-" his dad started but was cut off by an impatient Xavier, "Okay, thanks."

He grabbed hold of my hand and left his parents room, practically dragging me across the floor as he took me to his study room. I had explored the place a few hours ago with Xavier. He told me which rooms were his and which rooms were for the pack. I almost knew every room in the mansion after that little tour.
