It wasn't difficult for Natsu to catch her. What was difficult was where she ran off to.
Her own grave.
Something built up in his stomach. This grave carried such a heavy lost and it scared him. This grave was where Lisanna supposed to be if it weren't for the fact that she was transported to Edolas.
He looked behind the stone, the palce where he and Lisanna used to spend most of their times as children. Happy who was panting from following Natsu, asked, "Natsu, what's wrong?" He didn't bother to answer his cat. In fact, he was so stern at the little shack, that he hardly move.
"Natsu! Really? Can't you at least wait for me?" She complained.
"Lucy, please. Stay here"
"Wait—what?"
Natsu leaned toward her, and stared. "Please."
Lucy almost chocked from the sudden shift in personality. Natsu was rarely serious when it comes to anything. From the shocked, she could only nod.
He walked into the small portal and saw poor Lisanna hugging her legs and curled herself into a ball.
"Natsu?! What are you—I mean—"
"Stop it, Lisanna", Natsu's voice was stern. Hearing it, she listened and rubbed the tears. Natsu then sat in front of her, staring at her jewel blue eyes, yet didn't say a word.
Lisanna wanted to hug him, wanted to spend time with him like it used to be. She thought she could handle the pain when she saw someone she hold dearly with someone else. But it's too painful. Lisanna knew that Lucy is kind, and she wanted Natsu to be happy, but—
"Lisanna, are you okay?" Happy asked.
"Hm? Oh, yeah!", Natsu shouted and shocked both Lisanna and Happy. He walked outside, yet came back again and said the word that Lisanna wanted to hear for a long long time.
"I'm home," he grinned.
Lisanna can't bear it anymore, she can't fake a smile anymore. Her lips quivered and alas, she exploded. Her cries were shrill and sharp, her sobs were jagged and long. It was awhile until the sobs slowed down, nothing left but the short exhale and her jumping shoulders. With bloated face, she straighten her posture and put on a smile—a genuine smile finally came from her face.
"Welcome home, Natsu."
Happy who was smiling cheered for her.
The time that Lisanna wanted. A time that only her and Natsu, finally came true. They chattered, joked, and talked even more that Lucy (who was recording everything from a tiny hole) didn't realized that it was already dark.
Lisanna stared at Natsu who was talking about his job today, how annoying Gray was, how strong Erza was, how helpful Wendy and Lucy was--ended up hugging him.
"Lisanna..." Natsu stunned. He could feel tears fell from her eyes onto his shoulder. Lisanna then pulled Happy who was sitting next to Natsu.
"We're still...a family...right?" her voice muffled. "Happy...is still our son, right?" She bit her lip to say the last sentence.
"I can still...be...your—," but before she finished her sentence, she stopped. Lisanna felt a gentle stroke came from the back of her head, and a warm arm wrapped her back. Natsu touched her like she was a ruby. Like she was a bubble he afraid to touch for it would burst and ceased to exist.
They stayed there until the night ended.
