Bella didn't know exactly how she done it, but within two days, she was already in Canada. By now, she looked around eight months pregnant, and her face already had that pale look to it. Not only that, but she had vampire speed, strength, and her teeth were even sharper than they appeared to be. She should know. Along way of her long journey, her baby, as well as herself, got very. Bella had tried elk, cougar, and even mountain lion, but all forms of animal blood had her baby revolted, so somehow, so she'd feel less guilty and because she somehow knew that her baby didn't want to kill an innocent, Bella had found two men in the process of a crime—raping a fourteen-year-old girl. That infuriated Bella more than anything she'd ever been a witness to! She ran at vampire speed, grabbing both men and pinning them to the brick wall in the alley as the girl watched. Bella sank her teeth into both of them, draining them dry before the young girl had time to blink.

After Bella was through, she helped the shocked girl up to her feet, and could already tell that their was something different about her. Not just that she was homeless, but that she was special.

“You're a cold one,” she whispered to Bella, smiling.

Bella only nodded, licking the blood from her lips. “And you're a witch.”

The shy girl only nodded back. Bella hadn't had a plan before, but now she did—to go to Volterra, to seek their help in exchange for Bella, her child, and Amira, as the young girl was called, to be apart of the guard for however long that they saw fit.

Since Amira was a witch, she could run and fly just as easily and almost as fast as Bella could. And when they reached the Volturi castle in Italy within three days, they were surprised to see a couple of the guards, Jane and Alec, already waiting for them.

Bella was confused. The last time she had an encounter with Jane was after the battle with the newborns, while she was still considered to be a human when she wasn't supposed to be, at the time. Jane had always seemed to hate her, but now as Bella and Amira stepped into the castle, Jane gave hug—one like Alice would have when she hadn't seen her in so long, and was happy to see her.

“We're glad that you're joining us, Bella,” Jane said to Bella with a smile on her face. “You're children will bring such joy to this place.”

Bella was confused. “Um...” she looked at Amira, then back at Jane. “Children?” Bella almost fainted right there on the spot, but Jane and Alec caught her. Felix was there in no time with an old fashioned looking wheelchair, that they all helped her into. He bent down to look at her. He was smiling also. “We have someone on the guard, someone who is...kind of like Alice. She saw you and Amira coming, and she saw you pregnant...with twins, fully immortal twins, as you will become once they are born.”

As they wheeled her down the hall, Bella became nervous. “But...don't you all kill immortal children?”

“We used to,” Jane said happily as she led the wheelchair into a part of the castle that Bella had never seen. Once they went through a set of doors, the castle changed. It was now like a house, something to not be frightened about. Bella felt as Amira smiled, gazing around in awe, just as Bella was. “Bella...your children won't be like the ones of the past. But Aro will be better at explaining that.”
