"Ed! Come on!"

"Slow down! You're yanking my arm out of its socket!"

"But I want to get our usual spot! The one by the boat that literally doesn't move from it's spot on the sand all year!"

"I know! But I'd like to get there with my arm still attached!"

Her laugh rings through my ears, making me smile. She's running, her arm outstretched behind her, grasping my hand tightly. Her long hair is waving madly in the sea breeze, making her look even more beautiful. She reaches the edge of the road and comes to a stop, allowing me to catch my breath.

"I'm glad I have good breathing stamina from playing shows, or you would have the death of a global superstar on your hands." I wink at her jokingly.

"Ooh, superstar now are we!" She sticks her tongue out at me. "Well, you're my superstar." She giggles at the cheesiness, then stands on her tiptoes and places a kiss on my cheek, her sunglasses bumping with mine.

The 'Green Man' flashes on the crossing, and we walk across the road, but as soon as her leather sandals reach the pavement on the other side, she's off. My walk turns into a run once again, and she's laughing madly at me.

Finally, we reach the beach, and, as she predicted, the beach is rammed.

"Give us a hand?" I grab her by the waist and spin her around, causing a giggle to erupt from her, then lift her up onto the sea wall. Her hands move above her eyes, shielding the blinding sun, even through sunglasses. She's scanning the beach, looking for our spot. That boat. That bloody boat.

"AHOY THERE! I SEE IT! I SEE IT!" She's pointing madly, and I follow her finger, and spy it, the faded blue and red stripes, getting paler by the year.

"Well, then, thats where we be heading me hearties!"

"Ed, your pirate voice sucks."

"Thanks, my love! I try to please!" She laughs at me and I tap her bum lightly, causing her to giggle once again. I hold out my hand, she locks her fingers with mine. And then we begin the walk along the wall. She's got her tongue out, focusing on her footing. I'm gazing up at her, loving the way the sun is falling over her, accentuating the perfect contours of her face.

"LAND AHOY!" She lets go of my hand and jumps down on the other side, landing on the sand with a thud. I lift myself up onto the wall, swinging my legs over the other side. I flick off my shoes. She's standing on the sand, un-doing her sandals. I jump down, and feel the warm sand between my toes.

"Ready?"

"Always!"

I grab her hand, and we begin weaving our way between the sea of people, careful not to flick sand and stones onto other peoples towels. We reach the boat, and low and behold, its abandoned as always. People just don't like it. I guess its dangerous for kids, and it smells a little when its hot. It does mean its always free for us though. Perfect.

I drop the the bags on the floor. She begins digging around in them for our towels. I pick up the large stones that are dotted around and drop them in the boat, out of the way from where our towels will lay. Then, like clockwork, she's standing and awaiting my assistance on laying them down. I grab one corner, ending its mad flap in the wind like a boats sail. We do the same with the second, and wedge them with our bags and shoes.

I plop down with a thud, her following close behind.

"Right, Sheeran, lets get you covered head to toe in suncream. I don't want you to burn." She begins rummaging in the bag again, and I strip off my t-shirt, showing off the upper arm tattoos and the lion on my chest. A couple of people around stare, and recognise me. I push my shades further up my nose, and pull my HOAX hat further down on my face. As much as I love my fans, I want this day to just be for us. Me and her.

She looks up at me and smiles at the sight of my bright tattoos contrasting against my paper-white skin.

"Thank God for factor 50, eh?" She laughs and shuffles behind me on her knees. The cold stuff hits my hot back, cooling me instantly. Then I feel her warm hands massaging my skin.

A few minutes later and I'm covered. I insisted on doing the bits I could reach myself, but she was adamant.

"My turn." I take the factor 50 off her and switch for 30. She smiles, then takes off her vest, followed by her denim shorts, never taking her eyes off of mine. She's kneeling in front of me in a navy bikini. I feel my heart beat faster. Even though we have seen each other in less clothes than this countless times before, the sight of her still makes my heart race every time. I begin to massage the suncream into her skin. She sighs against my touch, sending waves of goosebumps across my skin at the sound of her.

"When you're finished, do you want to go for a swim?"

"Definitely, I'm sweating like mad, a dip in the sea will be amazing!"

A couple of minutes later, I put the suncream back in the bag, then get on my feet, holding my hand out to her. She takes it and I pull her to her feet, placing a kiss on her nose on the way up.

"Let's go!" She grabs my hand, and we're running, down the beach like crazy people. We reach the shore and the cold water shocks us. We both squeal like little kids.

"On the count of three?" She nods, then looks up at me.

"One... two... three!" We both run into sea, water flying in every direction. The cold droplets landing on our skin. The heat of our bodies makes the water feel that much colder. The water reaches my waist and I gasp at the cold. Distracted by the temperature of the water, I trip over my feet, and fall the rest of the way into the water. I shriek at the cold and her laughs fill my ear drums.

I wipe the water off my face, and see her standing a few feet in front of me.

"It's alright once you're in!"

"Yeah, yeah, says the one that just shrieked like a little girl!"

I glare at her playfully and she laughs at me even harder. As much as I hate to admit it, that wasn't the manliest I've sounded...

I begin heading towards her, humming the 'Jaws' music. She tries to run away, but the drag of the water slows her down. I grab her leg and pull her under the water. She gasps and I pull her to my chest. She's laughing and gasping and spluttering and laughing some more. I move my arms down to her waist, and she wraps hers around my neck. She's staring at me, a huge grin plastered on her face. Her hair is wet and hanging over her shoulders in wet strands. Her eyelashes are clumped together from the water, tiny droplets hanging from them. I smile at her, completely in love with her. Undeniably.

"Wow! What's that?" We both move our heads and find two boys, about 7 or 8 in age, leaning on an inflatable lilo. One is pointing at my arm. I smile at their interest.

"This one, is a Heinz ketchup bottle, because he loooves ketchup! And this one..." She begins pointing at my tattoos and telling simplified stories for them. They're faces are grinning, their eyes focused on her and on the colours that cover my body. They're so intrigued and happy and curious.

"Why is there a random gap there?"

"Well, that one is being saved for a special someone, when he finds them."

"Is that you?" She goes to answer, but I jump in first.

"Yes, it is!" She looks at me, and even though its boiling hot, I can tell her cheeks reddened further. She looks down at my arm, then back at me, then to the boys. Their chatting to each other excitedly.

"Wow, I want to have colourful drawings on my arms when I'm big!"

"Me too!" They continue their conversation gradually float back to shore. I watch them drift away, making sure they don't get caught in a current.

"I'm your missing piece?" I look back at her, and she's looking at me inquisitively.

"Of course you are. Its always been you. And always will be."

"I love you, Ed."

"I love you too."

"Now, where were we..." She plants her lips on mine. I smile into the kiss, feeling the happiness flood through me.

Here in the sea, with her, I'm as free as the water.
