Prologue: Introductions
Vincent was walking along the rooftop of a very popular high rise. One of his bounties was banking off of some money he stole from his employer, and Vincent's job was to collect. The only thing was, the high rise was intended for the criminally rich, in a lush and technologically advanced area of the city. The building itself had high tech security, only the richest were welcomed in, and only the stupid would try and get in otherwise. The building was intended to be a haven for criminals who had high ranking positions in the city, as well as protection from bounty hunters. The high rise had a reputation owned by the government, and none who were a part of the average public knew what it really stood for. All the other hunters had turned down this job simply because of what one had to do. And then of course, there was Vince. He looked over the edge of the building and saw a bunch of flying vehicles, a hoverrail -the version of trains in his age-, and multiple other buildings, terraces, and the like, mostly dominated by metal infrastructure. He saw a cargo vehicle approaching the building, and he saw his chance. Running back towards the center of the roof, he ran and jumped off of the building, turning in midair, he reached down to his boots and pressed a button, illuminating the bottom with a blue glow. Vincent directed himself back towards the building, slamming against the glass and tumbling, before his feet made contact with the building. He instantly regained his footing, and started running down the side of the building, jumping every now and then to fall quicker. As he neared the vehicle he leapt one last time, flipping in the air, over the hovering cargo truck. No doubt importing contraband cargo to keep the building stocked, it was reasonably sized. Vince hoped this would keep it from jerking as he held his arm out and caught the back of it with his hand, the force of his fall nearly yanking his hand off of the bumper, but luckily he stayed on. He swung slightly and pulled himself under the truck as it passed through the building. He heard the scanner start at the top of the truck, searching for anything that didn't belong. As the scanner passed over the top of the truck, he pressed a blue button on his hand and placed it against the truck, teleporting to the top of the truck as the scanner searched the bottom of the truck. A short range teleportation device was useful in breaking through places, as long as you knew where you were going. Teleporting into a place where you hadn't been could be dangerous, because you don't know where you'd be landing, or worse, what you'd be landing in. As the scan completed itself, the truck proceeded inside, and Vince relaxed, peering over the sides of the truck. There were armed guards and sentry laser grids everywhere. He'd often wondered why no one chose to take this job, but he no doubt felt he would find out. He honestly didn't care, he was just paid to get his job done. As the truck came to a halt, Vincent activated the blue button on his hand again, teleporting to the back of the truck, the entrance closing with a hiss. Vince pursed his lips as he saw his last chance to escape close. He turned and mentally hit himself in the head as he realized the door to the materials was back here. He rounded the right side of the truck, immediately slamming his boot into the face of one of the guards, grabbing his face and using his weight to push the guard to the ground, flipping as he roundhouse kicked the next guard, turning and drop kicking the last guard in the chest. He rolled backwards and stood up, pulling his energy revolver and turning to shoot the guards who were coming around the back of the truck. He flipped a small lever to set the gun to small concussive shots, and he didn't miss as he shot each of them coming around the back. He almost felt sorry for them. He flipped his revolver in his hand and put it back in the holster behind his waist, turning to look at the grids. He grinned and pressed his blue button, teleporting through the grids with ease, leaving a blue streak through the grid that trailed him as he teleported. He heard fizzing as the circuitry in the cameras were fried, his teleported tended to do that to lenses. Unfortunately, the laser grid was still active. As he got to the elevator he realized it had a code. "Aw damn." He groaned. He looked back over at the knocked out guards. He then turned to the elevator, said a prayer, and pressed his button. Instantly he was inside the elevator shaft, and he was falling. He reached and activated his boots, teleporting up to stop his fall and pressing his feet to the wall, gaining his footing. He looked up and down the shaft before running up to where the elevator was. He teleported to the top of the elevator and opened the hatch, dropping down into what was not an empty elevator. "Hello gentleman, I'm glad I could call you here today." He said with a grin as he hit both men in the stomach, tilting his head back to hit the man behind him in the face. He slammed the two men's heads together, jumping and kneeing both in the face as they slumped to the ground. The man behind him recovered from the head butt and tried grabbing Vincent, and Vincent broke his hold. He punched the man multiple times in the chest before punching his shoulder, kicking his knee to the side, crippling him, and then slamming his head into the side of the elevator. Vincent looked around and nodded in approval, pressing the button in the elevator to go towards what he imagined was the bar, as the number was a bit more scuffed than the others. He scanned one of the men and activated an experimental tech he'd obtained recently, allowing him to copy the outfits of people. It was still flawed, and he'd have to be careful it didn't blow his cover. As the elevator arrived at the floor, he activated the cloak, making him look like one of the guards from the building. The elevator opened and he closed the door right after him, walking into a well lit hallway, filled to the right with suites he imagined, but there was a door to the left that led into the bar. He opened the door and music flooded his ears as he entered a seemingly different world. He was used to bars, but the flood of bounties on his HUD caught him off guard. None of them were as high as the one he was chasing after, so he respected the policies and left them alone. But one man did draw his eye. He slowly walked towards the man, who was surrounded by guards. A guard shoved his hand into Vincent's shoulder trying to keep Vince at bay, and the disguise flickered. Immediately Vincent sprung into action, taking the man's arm and twisting it. He twisted till he heard a crack and turned the man around, and then he backed up and spun, slamming his foot into the back of the next guard. He ducked and rolled towards the next two guards, tripping one and shooting through the falling guard to the next one, taking him down. Other guards from other criminals were now running over, so Vincent wasted no time in placing a retrieval disk on his bounty and activating it. A yellow energy surrounded the criminal, and it collapsed in on him till he vanished. Immediately his HUD chimed, and his payment delivered. Now he just needed to escape alive. Vincent pulled his pistol and dropped several guards, jumping and flipping, slamming a boot over the head of a guard, cartwheeling away from the guards, before running through the building, guards in close pursuit. He put his pistol away and pulled his rifle from his hip. He pressed a button and it extended from its compact form, slowly. The barrel extended and straightened, and the body of the rifle grew larger. The stock of the rifle popped out, and Vincent turned and shot immediately. The concussive blasts of the rifle shattered the bones of the men they hit, and Vincent turned to continue running as soon as he saw them gaining. Slamming through the door of a suite, he approached a window and pulled his rifle, firing at it. The concussive round cracked it slightly, so he fired multiple times until the glass shattered entirely. Vincent turned and fired at the guards for a last time before jumping out of the window, landing on a hoverrail, using his boots to balance himself. He turned to look at the window and saluted, slipping into the tram as the guards drew their weapons.
