P!nk and Carey were dating and they would go weeks without seeing each other. P!nk one night, after dating Carey for a couple months now, was crying in a London hotel room and she needed Carey to tell her that he loved her but he wouldn't so she said that she could not be with him. Days later Carey crashed his at a motercross competition, all four limbs were shattered. P!nk rushes to his side and was there for him but that accident did not bring them back together.
P!nk made a different record with Tim Armstrong called "Try This". Linda Perry disagreed with the songs that were on that album and they would fight about it all the time. To this day their friendship has not been the same as it used to.
P!nk said that her and Carey can "be apart for 10 years and then you put us in a room and someone is gonna get pregnant". They were not ready to let go of each other, they went to a motercross competition and the sun was shining, and she wrote "will you marry me" on a board. Carey went skidding off the track and asked "are you serious". She said "yeah but get you a** back out there cause I won't marry a loser". Before P!nk did that she said to Carey's dad "I'm gonna ask your son to marry me" and he said "it's about time".
Her next album was "I'm Not Dead", she said she felt alive and that's why it was named "I'm Not Dead". She returned to the passionate song writing that made her a star. She sang a song "Dear Mr. President" it talks about how terrible the President was and everyone does not want to say anything because they are afraid to but P!nk isn't afraid so she said in that song what everyone was thinking.
January 7th 2006, P!nk and Carey got married. Right after the wedding P!nk had to go on tour. They were separated a lot. They tried to figure everything out and went out on vacation together with P!nks band. While they were on vacation they were sitting around the fire and P!nk said "how did we get so mean". Then they started playing guitar, P!nk started giving examples, and that night they wrote the song "Mean". P!nk and Carey Hart announced that they were breaking up Valentines Day 2008. They were apart too much and P!nk did not want to see history repeat itself but that's what was happening.
Again, after they split, P!nk went to music to help heal that pain that she was going through. She started working on her next album and for the first two weeks all she did was cry. P!nk wanted to name the album "Heartbreak is a motherf**ker".
The song "So What" started out as a joke because of the line "I guess I just lost my husband, I don't know where he went". The label wanted to release "So What" as the albums first single but P!nk was worried about Carey's feelings, so she agreed to it only if Carey was in the "So What" video she said it would "take the sting out" for him and it would give her a chance to see him again. They recorded "So What" about 8 months after P!nk and Carey split up. "So What" is one of P!nk's most famous songs.
Carey and P!nk were together on New Years Eve, P!nk brought the divorce papers but they knew that in the morning they were either going to be divorced or back together again. They woke up that next morning back together, but that is not the only relationship that she had fixed, she also fixed her relationship with her mom.
All the pain that P!nk has gone through has paid off.
