I didn't expect this!

Chapter 11

Katy's POV

"Tess? what's wrong?" I ask as I approach her.

"Katy I got a call from the hospital. It's Finn. He... didn't make it." She sobs as she chokes up at the end.

I stand there completely shocked. Finn was such a kind and brave man. I know how much Tess loved him. I still remember the first time they met.

*FLASHBACK*

"Hey." I hear a boy say.

"Hi." I hear Tess reply.

"I was wondering if you'd like to be my lab partner?" He says.

"Uh well my frien..." I interrupt her by saying, "She would love to be your lab partner umm..."

"Finn. I'm Finn." He says giving Tess a charming smile.

"I'm Tess and this is my friend Katy." Tess says.

For the entire class, the two of them continued to flirt with each other. It's really funny actually, because they both seem to act awkward and kinda shy, but it's adorable.

*At The End Of Class*

"Tess!" Finn calls after Tess.

"You forgot your pen." he says as he hands her the pen.

"Thank you." she replies.

"So I was wondering if we could hang out sometime?" he says smiling down at her.

"Yeah that'd be great." she says as she takes his hand gently and writes her number down.

We walk away as I see a huge smile appear on both their faces.

*END OF FLASHBACK*

I feel tears threatening my eyes as I receive this information. Finn was one of my closest friends and he meant so much to Tess and me. He was a huge part of our lives and he was always there when we needed him. I felt a sudden pang of guilt as I realized how I suddenly left everyone in such a terrible situation. I abandoned the ones I loved for my own selfish reasons. I couldn't help but let out a sob.

"Tess I'm so sorry. I know there's not much we can do now, but I'm so sorry for not being there for you guys. I left you all when I was needed there the most. I'm sorry." I chocked out.

"Katy it's not your fault. You were actually smart to leave. Things were getting out of hand there. I'm just glad that you're safe." Tess says as she lets out another sob.

We both sit there crying for a few minutes until I hear someone approaching us.

"Katy? Tess? what's wrong?" I hear Harry say.

"It's my boyfriend, Finn, he..." shes unable to finish the sentence as she starts sobbing uncontrollably.

"He passed." I finish for her as I let out a sob as well. I see Harry's features soften as he comes closer to both of us and gives us both a hug sitting in between us.

"I'm so sorry." He whispers. As we both continue grieving.

After sometime we finally stop crying as Tess goes to the bathroom to freshen up.

"I'm sorry for all this." I apologize to Harry.

"Katy you don't have to apologize for this. It isn't your fault something like this happened." he assures me but I can't help but feel guilty for leaving.

"Thank you for being there for us and being so understanding." I say as I see a small smile appear on his face.

"I'll always be there for you." he says as he gives me another small smile. I return the smile as we both lean in.

Niall's POV

"I'm gonna go check up on the girls. They've been in there a while." Harry says as he gets up off the couch. As he leaves I decide to go behind him just in case there's something they need our help with.

I hear the girls sobbing as Harry approaches them. I wait and listen before I do anything.

"Katy? Tess? what's wrong?" Harry says.

Tess begins to speak, "It's my boyfriend, Finn, he...", But she's unable to finish as she continues to cry.

"He passed." Katy says. As I hear her sob as well. Oh. Harry goes ahead and comforts them two as they both continue to cry.

"I'm so sorry." He whispers.

After a while the sobs have lessened. And I see Tess heading towards me. As soon as she looks up at me I give her a hug. She wraps her arms around me as I hear her release a breathe.

"I'm so sorry Tess." Is all I manage to say before I start tearing up as well. These girls are quite brave I must say to be able to handle such a horrible event.

I feel her grip tighten around me as she says, "I should've been there with him during his last breaths." I feel my shirt get wet due to her tears. We remain standing there in each others arms until she finally says, "Thank you. You boys have been so nice to us. I can understand why Katy is so happy to be here. I can't seem to thank you all enough for being so kind to her." She looks up at me and gives me a small smile.

"You don't have to thank us for anything. We'll always be there for you girls." I say as I return her smile.

Hey guys! How are you liking the story so far? Don't worry it's going to get a lot more exciting soon. Sorry this chapter was kinda depressing but the girls are gonna be that way for a little bit as you can tell Finn was someone really important. Also I've been thinking of ship names!
