I didn't expect this!

Chapter 13

Harry's POV

The party we had for Tess was a huge success. I saw her smiling much more than she has for these past couple of months. She even laughed at my jokes! Towards the end of the party I saw Katy and her talking then they both looked at me and Tess came up to me and thanked me. Katy must've told her that this was my idea. She seemed so thankful that she hugged me and I thought she was about to cry but as Niall approached she smiled at him and they suddenly got into conversation about rubber ducks? Well anyways, now we're all headed home because we're extremely exhausted.

The girls left 5 minutes before me and Niall and the rest of the boys decided to go get some frozen yogurt.

Suddenly my phone starts to ring. It's Katy? Thought she was going straight to bed when she got home.

"Hello?" I answer.

"Harry!? Where are you guys?" I hear Tess say.

"Tess? Where's Katy?" I ask instead of answer her.

"Harry I think someone broke into the apartment the door was unlocked. Katy told me to go outside and call you guys."

"Don't worry we're on our way." I answer and tell Niall to speed it up.

Katy's POV

I walk into the apartment after Tess goes downstairs to wait for the guys. All the lights seem to be turned on and all the doors to every room open. As I walk around checking every room nothing seems to be missing. Who could've broken in and most importantly what did they want?

I go into my room and check all my drawers to make sure everything's there. Every drawer seems to be a mess and everything's out of place. I then move over to the closet and it's a huge mess. Whoever broke in, they were searching for something important.

I move onto Tess's room and check everything like I did for my room. The results are almost the same, everything's a mess but nothing's missing. However, I notice her window is wide open. Either they came in through the window and or left through it.

After a couple of minutes I stand there confused wondering what was the purpose of all this. Then suddenly I hear the doorknob twist and I grab one of the big books on the shelf.

"Tess!" I sigh, "It's just you."

"Hey what about us!" I hear Niall say and I chuckle.

Harry starts walking towards me and grabs the book from my hands.

"Oh, sorry." I say not realizing I was still holding it up ready to attack.

"So, what happened?"

"Someone broke in and the place is a mess but oddly enough nothing seems to be missing." I answer Harry.

"Huh, that's strange. Do you think we should inform the police?"

"I'm not sure. I just wanna know what did they want?" I reply.

Wait a minute. The window!

"Guys! The window to Tess's bedroom was wide open." I say walking to her room while the rest followed.

"I swear I had it closed." Tess says as she walks in.

"The curtains. They're hanging outside of the window." I say approaching in and looking out. As I suspected there's a ledge that's a few feet below and a pipe a couple of feet towards the left.

"Whoever broke in, they left through the window." I say pointing towards the ledge.

"I wonder why did they break into our apartment?" Tess says looking out her window.

"I don't know." I say then I hear a phone ring. "I think we're about to find out." I say walking towards the noise. I Find a blue phone right under Tess's pillow. I look at the bright screen lighting up as the display says a private number is calling. I decide to press the answer button and put the phone on speaker.

"Hello Katy." I hear a deep voice on the other line say.
