her smile was like armor,
and everyday she went
to war.

Bellamy left early the next morning, he and Lincoln leaving straight from the camp, while the rest went back to Arkadia. Now, Athena stood next to Octavia as Grounders flooded into Arkadia. The Grounders went into the Ark for a meeting, Athena and Octavia following behind them. The Grounders stopped once they reached the council meeting room.

Kane walked into the room, and started speaking. "I know we don't have a lot in common. But we do have a common enemy, and a common goal. And for us to reach it, to get our people out of Mount Weather, we need to work together. Ogeda. Skaikru and Trikru. Our survival depends depends on you sharing your knowledge of this world..."

"You got a problem?" Murphy asked from beside Athena. She looked over at him, seeing him speaking to a Grounder who was standing in front of him.

The Grounder began speaking in Trigedasleng, which Murphy didn't know. "I'm sorry man, I don't speak Grounder." Murphy said, a smirk on his face.

The Grounder goes towards Murphy, as if to harm him, and Murphy shoved him backwards, protecting himself. This got everyone's attention. "Mr. Murphy," Kane called out. "Apologize to that man."

"For what? He was the one who came to me."

"Two days work detail."

"Work detail?" Murphy asking, in disbelief, "i just told you I didn't do it."

Kane looked at him. "Care to make it three?" Murphy looked away.

The Grounder got in Murphy's face. "You can burn just like your friend." He said, threateningly. Murphy punched him in the face for making the comment.

"Murphy! Murphy!" Kane yelled out, trying to stop it before it got out of hand. Then, everyone started arguing and fighting, and a full riot broke out in the council meeting room.

Athena watched the Grounders sparing, her eyes watching every move. They moved with such ease, as if they knew the opponents next move. Octavia stood beside her, she too watching the Grounders. "I want to do it." Octavia said.

Athena didn't respond for a moment. If Octavia went out there, she would very easily get beaten. "Then you'll get your ass beaten, Octavia." Athena knew this probably wouldn't change her mind, knowing how stubborn Octavia was.

Athena had actually learned most of what she knew about fighting from Octavia, and used to train with her. Octavia had given her a sword, which she now preferred used over a gun. She was now where Octavia was in fighting, and in strength.

"I'm gonna go speak to Indra." Octavia said, starting to walk away.

"Octavia, I'm telling you, this isn't a good idea. You could get hurt." Octavia stopped. "And besides, what makes you think Indra will let you? You're not ready to be sparring with them yet."

"You don't have to protect me, Athena." Octavia said, turning around to her.

"I'm trying to protect you from getting yourself hurt." Octavia didn't listen to her, just tried and walked away to hunt down Indra to see if she would allow her to fight a Grounder.

Kane approached her. He watched the Grounders for a moment before speaking to her. "She wants to fight them, doesn't she?"

Athena nodded. "I told her it wasn't a good idea, that she would get herself hurt." Athena liked Kane, a lot more than she did on the Ark. He was a dick on the Ark. He was the first Chancellor on Earth, then he passed the pin to Abby Griffin, and she has since then been the Chancellor.

Kane looked over at her, once silence fell over them for a second. "Tell me, on the Ark, why'd you kill that man?" Kane looked over at her. Athena stayed silent, her mouth falling open slightly at the sudden question. They hadn't believed her on the Ark, she doubted they'd believe her now. "The Council assumed you went mad, after the death of your parents."

"It was self-defense." She said, not even looking at him. "The Council didn't believe me on The Ark,-"

"I believe you," Kane said. "If you don't mind me asking, what he did he do to you that was so bad-"

"I'd rather not talk about it." She said, interrupting Kane. She had only told one person about what really happened, and that was Raven, and probably wouldn't tell anyone else. She didn't see herself telling anyone else.

Athena walked over to Octavia and sat down in front of her. She could tell Octavia wasn't in a good mood, because Indra wouldn't let her fight. She sat in front of her, sharpening her sword, not even looking up when Athena sat down

"She's only trying to protect you, Octavia." Athena spoke up.

"People aren't always going to be be able to protect me, Athena. And Indra, of all people, have to be able to realize that."

"She does, Octavia. But she's not stupid, either. She knows you're not ready to fight one of them. I know you're not ready to fight them." Athena didn't want to piss her off more, so she just turned away. She looked over at Indra who was now yelling at Kane, something about how Grounders didn't need Skaikru weapons. Indra then stormed off, after yelling at Kane.

"It's like they're afraid of them." Kane muttered to the guard beside him.

"They are. Legend has it if a Grounder picks up a gun, even to shoot another Grounder, Mount Weather will wipe out their entire village. Can't have your blood supply defending themselves, right?" Octavia spoke up.

"If we don't arm them, we can't win."

"Like hell we can't." Octavia stood up, and walked off.

Nightfall had fell upon them, and the Grounders were still fighting, none of them had stopped once all day. The Grounders were now heading out for food, as Arkadia didn't any for them all. "Time for one more?" Octavia asked as she stood in front of Indra, stopping her from heading to the gate.

"Step aside, Sky Girl. We're hungry."

"Make me." Octavia said, confidence in her voice. Athena stood off to the side watching her. She knew what she wanted. She wanted a fight.

"Fio! Give this girl what she wants." Athena looked at Fio, who was a lot larger and a lot more trained than Octavia. Octavia was about to get her ass handed to her.
