❝ she will rise. with a spine of steel, and a roar like thunder, she will rise. ❞
ATHENA'S ASSUMPTIONS HAD been right. Octavia had gotten her ass kicked. Athena walked into the infirmary, just as Indra was walking out. Octavia's face was badly bruised, with a large cut on her cheek, as well as on her eyebrow. Octavia had just got done talking to Indra, which by the looks of it, Octavia had gotten good news from Indra. "You're happy, what happened?" Athena questioned as she sat down in a chair in the infirmary.
"What are you doing in here, A?" Octavia asked, looking at Athena.
"Oh, nothing." Athena spoke up with a smile on her face. "I just wanted to tell you that you got your ass kicked." Octavia furrowed her brows at Athena. "So, what's the good news?"
"Indra asked me to be her Second."
"Yeah, I don't know what that is" Athena said, sinking down in the chair she was sitting in.
"I'd be an apprentice to Indra." Athena nodded, understanding.
"Right, so you gonna do it?" Athena asked, sitting forward and leaning her elbows on her knees. Octavia nodded, a look of pride covering her face.

Clarke, Abby and Indra rushed into Camp Jaha early the next morning, two injured people with them. "Athena, good, come here." Abby said. "Put pressure here." Abby took her hands off the man, so Athena could take over and put pressure on the wound to stop him from bleeding out. Abby got what she needed in order to get the bullet out of the man, and then she no longer needed Athena.
Athena washed the blood off her hands in the sink, then dried them off. "Athena," Clarke called. "Has Raven heard anything from Bellamy?" Athena shook her head. A disappointed look appeared on Clarke's face.
"What happened to him?" Athena walked over to Clarke.
"Radiation burns. There was a tear in his suit, but we patched it in the woods. He's from Mount Weather, so we need him alive." Clarke said, informing her on who he was.
"Okay, but how do you expect them to work on his wounds if they can't get the suit off?" Clarke looked down. She obviously hadn't thought of that. "Wait," Athena said. "What about the airlock?" Clarke looked up to her. "Raven could do it"
"Yeah, go get Raven." Clarke said. Athena nodded then headed out of the infirmary and towards Raven's room. Athena opened the door to Raven's room.
"Raven, we need you." Athena spoke up. "Can you get the airlock so it can be used?" Raven nodded.
"Yeah, I can rig up some scrubbers for it." Athena nodded. "Wait, what happened?"
"Clarke has a hostage from Mount Weather who was injured, and they're trying to treat him-" Athena started to explain.
"But if they take off the suit, he'll die." Raven finished, already understanding.

As soon as Raven had fixed the airlock, Abby had placed him inside to protect him the radiation and had given him a blood transfusion. Abby had ushered all of the teenagers out of the infirmary, leaving Athena bored, with nothing to do as she waited on news from Bellamy.
"You think he's gonna come through?" Athena questioned Raven. She had been hanging out in Raven's room for the most of the day, impatiently waiting on news from Bellamy about Mount Weather or from Clarke about the Mount Weather man they currently had trapped in their airlock.
Raven looked back. "It's Bellamy Blake. I doubt you're gonna get rid of him that easy?" Raven said, a small smirk on her face as she worked on building a little makeshift robot that she had been working on all day.
Athena laid her head down on the table, watching as she worked on it. "Um, what is that supposed to be?" Athena asked, her brows furrowing as she tried to figure out what it was.
"It's a robot." Raven said, a small smile on her face. "I'm almost done. All I have left to do is put that screw into place." Raven grabbed the little screwdriver and screwed it into place, then sat it down on the table. "You ready?" Raven asked.
Athena nodded, as Raven twisted the knob on the robots back and then watched as it walked across the table in a straight line. "Damn, I'm good." Raven said, shaking her head.
Athena picked it up, inspecting it. "How is that a robot?" Athena asked, her brows furrowing. It just looked like a glob of medal wires stuck together.
"Alright, the shape could be a little better." Raven said, before holding out her hand. "But give it before you break it." Athena handed it back before she would have to hear a speech from Raven about not touching her things.
Athena placed her hands down on the table, staring at them for a moment. Raven let out a sigh. "What's wrong, A?" Raven asked, looking over to her.
Athena let out a sigh, before moving her hands down to her lap. "How do you do it?" Athena asked.
"Do what? Make robots?"
"No." Athena said, shaking her head. "Still find it inside of yourself to genuinely smile after all that you've been through. How do you do that?" Athena asked, looking up to Raven.
"Because I've realized there's more to life than just pain." Raven said. "Sure, this isn't how I expected my life to go. I didn't expect to lose Finn. I didn't expect to be tortured. But I believe everything happens for a reason." Raven said. "We all have our different methods of getting through grief. Mine just happens to be blocking it out by getting my mind off of it." Raven looked down, before looking back up. "Yours is putting on a mask. Not letting that pain through, and not letting anyone see you down. You don't trust easy, Athena. Your methods is using sarcasm and dark humor. That's just one of your methods of dealing with the pain. Of what you went through on the Ark."
"I didn't want this life, Raven." Athena said, hating that she just brought a dreary mood to the atmosphere. "I never wanted to go to Earth. I wasn't made for a life down here." Athena shook her head.
Raven took her hand. "You're strong, Athena. And smart." Raven said. "I ask myself everyday 'why do bad things happen to good people,'" Raven looked down. "I still don't have the answer to it. But you're one of those good ones, Athena. You, of all people, deserve happiness."
Athena looked down to the table. "Yeah." Athena said, although she didn't believe a word that she had just said. She didn't believe she was good. She hated herself for not opening up to more people, and instead coming off as an asshole to most people she met. She never really opened up to anyone, and maybe it was because of the tough childhood she had growing up. She just didn't want to feel so broken all the time.
