Gary woke up to his regular launching out of bed, slamming into the wall and screaming in a mixed reaction of pain and surprise. He groaned and got up from the ground and began to prepare his daily ‘morning’ routine.

Arriving in the room that somewhat reminds one of the confines of a break room, he made his way to the coffee machine, only to see that coffee had already been made.

"Good morning." A familiar voice spoke, coming from behind Gary. It was Avocato.

Gary flinched at the sudden break in the silence, turning his head around to see Avocato standing near the table a few feet away from his human friend, holding a cup of what was almost certainly coffee, seeing as he was the one who probably made it before Gary.

"O-Oh! You're awake early! I'm usually the one to be woken first..." Gary chuckled. He noticed Avocato wasn't wearing that weird metal collar he tended to keep on, along with his strange shoulder pads. "Why were you up before me?"

"Oh, uh..." Avocato paused for a moment. "I don't know. I think I slept a bit earlier than usual and woke up not as late, if that makes sense." He shrugged.

"Ah, no, I get it."

Gary didn't get it.

Avocato smiled tiredly and quietly chuckled, which made Gary's heart skip a beat...for some reason. Gary didn't think much of it at the moment.

"So, I see you haven't gotten to the 'getting dressed' stage of your routine? Or do you always like to cruise around here in your robe before me and the others wake up?" The Ventrexian joked, taking a sip from his mug.

Gary gasped, acting offended as he put a hand on his chest dramatically, despite being slightly flustered. "How dare you..! I just woke up! Give me a break, man!" He pretended to be defensive as he started laughing. Avocato laughed with him.

Gary got himself a cup of coffee, smiling at Avocato. "Oh! Thanks for making coffee, by the way. Waiting for it to be done is frickin' boring, cause I can't do anything until I've got my fix."

"God, I know. It's pure liquid energy. Cannot live a day without it." Avocato spoke sarcastically and snickered.

"I did just fine without it when I was a kid." Gary didn't detect his sarcasm. Avocato expected that, honestly.

"Cause you didn't spend all morning going on hellishly tiring missions and fixing satellites when you were a kid." Avocato teased.

"Meh..true." Gary shrugged, taking a big drink of his coffee.

"Well, since I'm up, might as well wake the others." Avocato set his coffee down on the table, heading towards the hallway.

"Good luck, Quinn's a heavy sleeper!" He giggled, watching his Ventrexian pal leave.

While Gary was left alone, he thought seeing Avocato early in the morning was nice. He thought about how he hopes it happens more often.
His mind wandered from thought to thought.

He remembered the way Avocato laughed..and how it shot a weird feeling from his chest to his stomach. It made him feel kind of sick.

Hearing Avocato softly laugh and be genuine or sincere sounding in any way gave him this horrible yet great, fuzzy sensation in his heart and stomach. It burned. He didn't know why or what this feeling was, but it felt so familiar...

Was it just because he was just tired? Or maybe it's because he isn't used to seeing Avocato like that..since it was rather rare?

He didn't like it..but he did at the same time. Such a strange and confusing feeling that he didn't want to stop experiencing. It made him happy to the point where he had to contain some of it, which was hard.

Gary wasn't completely sure if this was a good start to his day or not.
