I wake up with a start. The unfamiliar eggshell wihite walls with a golden trim greet me. Lark. Yesterday's events crash in my head and I suddenly remember why I woke up. It was school today, "Morning sleepyhead." Lark greets noncommittally, sitting in front of the tv amd chomping down on a bowl of popcorn. "Morning Lark." "Oh no, not again." Lark groans, "It's already ten past one - it's way to late to go to school now - amd I'm only starting next week - we only move in the house on Friday, remember." Lark defends and I sigh, at this rate I was never going to pass. "We can go fetch your stuff at Noah's if you're game? Lloyd said Noah's at school so I don't think you'd run into him. Plus the girls wanna know if you're still on for tonight." I raise a brow, "I didn't know you and Lloyd were best friends again." Lark shrugs and I roll my eyes. "I should've known - you and Lloyd and Noah are inseparable nowadays. You told them all about yesterday, right." "No Del! You said I shouldn't tell Noah and I didn't." Lark replies quickly and I groan. "Fine - but I'm gonna wear another of your hoodies m'kay."
And just like that, the rest of the week flies by and the Friday housewarming slash welcoming gathering springs up on me. I've spent the week between Lark and Aubrey - Noah and I are still on the rocks and Lloyd and Morg are officially a couple. My dad wants to meet in the week and Vernon Slater wants to meet me too for some reason. He made an appointment with me for Sunday afternoon today - something that I had to tell Noah, whether or whether not he was mad at me. I sulked in my seat by the gang's new kitchen, Jess traipsing around - flittering like a butterfly on meth.
"So who aren't you avoiding Dels?" Kael laughs gleefully at my expense. "Shut up El!" I growl, my head resting against the cool countertop in in the kitchen.
"As much as I love you Delilah, you're gonna have to leave." He flicks my head and I groan. "You always leave me in my time of need El!" I whine as he attempts dragging me out of the house.
"Hey Kael," Henry says nonchalantly ignoring my presence. "Oh and isn't it the girl that left us in our time of need," Henry drawls and I resist the urge to punch him in his cute little, golden boy face.
Henry Rhodes was your typical good boy with his quirky sense of humour and football obsession. His ash blonde hair and baby blue eyes didn't help him at all, Henry was built evenly. Not enough to make him buff, but not too little to call it lean either.
He like to think he worked for Wolfe - back when Wolfe and I dated - Henry was too small so we humoured him, when my mother was still alive. Henry now freelanced as one of Wolfe's best strategists and usually set up most of Kael and Wyatt's missions. All he wanted to do was get through high school and keep Jess away from the social workers, who would've split the siblings up. Henry was the same age as me, which I'll admit was nice considering I was surrounded by 20-something year olds.
"Says the one who fell out of a tree." I shoot back and Henry shrugs, "Fair enough."
I watch him as he drinks the milk from the carton, my face reflecting my disgust. "What brings you to our humble abode?"
I snort, there's nothing humble about this place. It's a double storey house in the middle of the town suburbs."She's avoiding her boytoy and her bestest sisters as well as the sperm donor and her stepmother." Kael rattles off boredly and Larkin comes into view. "Oh damn Del, and I thought I had it bad." He chuckles and I gracefully show him my middle finger. Ot was not that bad as Kael exaggerated - I was avoiding Noah (no exaggeration needed), Maddie amd Morg were on my case about Derek and Noah, and Jessica wanted to "talk", which everyone knows that when someone wants to talk it's almost never a good thing - thus avoidance.
"Fuck you," I say with a blank face.Brianne walks through the door with a smile when she spots me. "Finally a girl!" She says with a smile, her young age coming out to play, her innocence making it hard to relate with her.
"I don't think Lilah counts as a girl Bri," Lark laughs. "Fuck you too brother dearest," I deadpan and he closes the door behind her. "Geez, chill Dels," he mutters and I glare at him.
