I had always been a happy kid, I always had amazing friends, a caring and supportive family, good marks. The key word is had,I used to have all these things. I don't know what happened,if I had changed if people around me changed, it all just happened so quickly.
I didn't realise it was happening until later. Since it was going to be a new school I didn't have anybody to walk in with and feel confident that it was all gonna be just fine. It was just gonna be me, nobody else.
On my first day I was supposed to go down to the principal's office to be welcomed and he would tell me about how the school worked and all the other boring stuff. My Mom had asked if I wanted her to come with me, "Mom do you seriously think a sixteen year old would want her Mom to escort her down to the principal's office" I shouted at her.
She gazed up at me as if I had slapped her, "I'm sorry Mom I-I-I didn't mean to " I stuttered. She put her hand up and said "No honey its fine I get it you're finally growing up, I have tried to deny it all these years but its finally happening".She walked over to me and hugged me fiercely and then said " Whatever decisions you or your siblings make in your life your Father and I will always support you" tears welling in her eyes." I love you Mom" I said tears splashing down my face, "I love you too Avery and nothing in the world will change that" she whispered.
I went to school still feeling a bit lonely but telling myself that everything would be fine, boy was I wrong. I walked down the hallway, I could see everybody staring at me and whispering
" Who is she"? But I just walked with my head held up towards the principal's office.
"Hello" said the woman at the front desk, " My name is Ms Birch, I'm the school secretary" "Hello" I said back almost straight away like some sort of obedient lapdog."You're Avery aren't you" ,"Yes I replied "Mr Edwards has been expecting you". She pointed towards the left and said "That's his office". I slowly walked into the office and saw a middle aged man looking at me. "Ah you must be Avery" , "Yes" I replied. " Hello I am your new principal Mr Edwards, I hope that you will have a great time here at Kingston Academy". Everything else he said was unbelievably boring, so boring in fact that I had to try extremely hard not to fall asleep. When he was finished his little speech, he said " This is Serena she will be showing you around until you figure your way around the school". Serena was one of those girls that everybody wanted to know ; she was tall and pretty with waist length caramel - coloured hair and a perfect tan. She had the kind of confidence that made Kingston Academy uniform look like high fashion on her, and she was always laughing.
When I met her she acted all nice and happy and said we were gonna be great friends. But I wish back then I could see under her mask and I wish I had known instead of her kind and happy attitude she wasn't as she seemed. I wish I knew she was a bully who was waiting to make my life a living hell every single day.I wish, I wish, I wish.
