2) First day

Isabella's POV

I turned off my alarm as I sat up in bed. Today was my first day at the Mendes household. I had already packed everything and was ready to go. I took a quick shower and got dressed.

"Issy! Are you ready?!"

I looked around at my almost empty room and sighed .

"Yeah!"

~car ride to Mendes home~

We started unload my stuff into the room that was mine. My mom looked at me with a sad expression as she brought in the last thing.

"I'll visit whenever I can Ma."

"I'll miss you."

"I'll mail you the money okay?"

"Okay Isa."

"Love you Mom."

She pulled me into a hug and kissed my forehead.

"I love you too sweetheart."

She kissed my cheek one last time before she walked out of my room back to the house.

I looked around at all my things and started to organize everything.

When I finished, I walked towards the kitchen. I looked at my watch, it was 5:46pm.

I decided to start cooking dinner. I haven't seen Mrs. Mendes yet, Aaliyah had opened the door for me when I had first gotten here. I took out my iPod and put on my music. Linkin Park started to play as I danced around the kitchen, gathering what I needed to make the soup and chicken.

"What's that amazing smell?"

I stopped dancing and turned to face the guy that was standing in front of me.

"Uh I'm cooking.."

"Oh. Uh who are you?"

"Your housekeeper."

"You look too young to be my housekeeper."

"Yeah I'm 19."

"Oh me too."

I just nodded and continued to cook.

"So what are you making?"

"Mushroom soup with grilled chicken."

"Sounds good, better than what Hailey cooks."

"You have another sister?"

"No, Hailey is my girlfriend."

"Oh."

An attractive guy like that? Of course he's taken.

"Do you need help?"

"Uh yeah can you get the chicken out of the freezer?"

"It's actually in the fridge."

"Oh okay."

I watched him as he took out the chicken from the fridge, he looked familiar.

"So what do you do?"

"I'm a singer."

"No wonder!"

He gave me a weird look. I just smiled at him and continued to cook.

"Did you recognize me ?"

I nodded and started to cut the mushrooms.

"So Linkin Park huh?"

I smiled and looked at him.

"Yup."

"Do you have any of my songs on here?"

He picked up my iPod and turned it on. He started to scroll through my songs. He clicked on one and ruin came on.

"Woooow."

He sent me a huge grin and jumped on top of the counter.

"Wait. So you're going to live with us from now on?"

"Yeah."

"Hopefully Hailey doesn't get jealous."

"Why would she get jealous? It's not like I'm into you or anything."

"I just assumed."

"Well you shouldn't."

His phone went off and he looked at me while reaching into his pocket.

"Hailey is coming over. She hates mushrooms."

"Well too bad."

He laughed and rolled his eyes.

"You should give me your number so that if I need anything I could text you."

I scratched the back of my neck and looked around. How was I supposed to tell him that I'm too broke to have a phone?

"Uh I actually don't have a cellphone."

"What how do you not have a phone?!?"

"Can't afford it."

He nodded then got off the counter. He smiled and picked up an apple.

"Not everyone has a phone, so yeah."

I nodded and finished cooking.

Finally Mrs. Mendes walked in looking so tired.

"Isabella! Oh you cooked thank you it smells delicious."

"It's no problem and thank you ."

She walked into the other room and Aaliyah walked into the kitchen.

"Shawn is Hailey coming over today?"

"Yeah why?"

"Oh just curious."

"Weirdo." He reached down and messed up her hair.

"Hey!" She punched his arm.

I smiled at their interaction. I thought about my brothers and sisters. I missed them even though they were annoying.

Shawn walked out of the kitchen and Aaliyah came and stood by me.

"What did you make?"

"Mushroom soup with grilled chicken."

"Looks yummy, can I serve myself?"

"Shouldn't we wait until everyone is here?"

Aaliyah rolled her eyes and sighed, "Yeah we should."

She smiled at me and started to set up the table.
