Tim's POV
I fully expected Toby to be asleep when I was sent to wake him up. However, he was awake, huddled in the corner of the bed and staring at the doorway sleepily. I furrowed my brow and frowned.
"Did you not sleep?" I asked, stepping into his room. His eyes darted up to me, then back down to his feet out in front of him. Very subtle, he shook his head left to right.
"Why not?"
"Nightmares," he said quietly. I sighed and set my hands on my hips. Should I just let him sleep? Slenderman would be mad if I did but, there was no way he could train in this condition.
"Here, follow me, kid," I said. He hesitated then stood up from his bed, trudging towards me.
"Where are w-we going?" He asked as I led him out of the door.
"Out on the town. I've got a mission and you're gonna tag along if you want."
"Mission?" He questioned.
"It's a woman named Clarice. She's super abusive to her kids. And, Slender see's some potential in one of the kids. We aren't going to interfere for a while though, the kid is only three. Do you want to go.:
"Yes," he said, rather strongly. I smiled.
Toby. Masky.
We both jumped. I turned around to see Slenderman standing in the hallway, a few feet away from us.
Do you still have those orange goggles?
"Y-yes sir," Tobi muttered.
When you go out, I want you to wear them. Along with this.
He reached his hand out and handed Toby a half-mask. Toby took it, staring at it in confusion.
I collected your hatchets as well. They are on the counter in the kitchen. I took the liberty of...cleaning them.
Tobi rubbed the back of his neck nervously. Slenderman disappeared before he explained how exactly Toby should wear it. His green eyes shot up at me, giving me a look at confusion. I chuckled.
"It's a half-mask. Here." I took it from his hands and tied it around his face, right above his nose. It had a macabre like smile on it, giving Toby a strange look. He went back to his room. I followed closely, curious about what he was doing. He grabbed a pair of orange goggles from the floor near his bed and slipped them over his head. Again, it gave Toby a different look. I liked it in a way. It suited him well. He glanced over at me like he was waiting for approval of the new look.
"I like it," I said, smiling, "It makes you look like one of us."
"T-thank you," he muttered, "Ready t-to go?"
"Yeah, let's get going." Toby followed me quietly as we went downstairs. He stuck close, his eyes searching the house for the other proxies. Most of them were on missions today, including Hoodie. The only ones home were me, Toby, Slenderman, and Eyeless Jack.
Before we reached the front door, we took a detour to the kitchen. Sitting on the counter just like Slenderman had said were two hatchets holstered on a belt. One was older, it's wood splintered and it's blade dull. The other was newer, with a plastic orange handle.
Toby hesitated, his hand hovering over the belt. He then took it, slowly clipping it around his waist. He took the older hatchet out, holding it so tightly his knuckles began to turn white.
"What're you guys doing?" I glanced up to see EJ standing in the doorway of the kitchen. Proxies were very good at sneaking around. It was sort of a requirement while on the job.
