The Dark Streets

Chapter Seven

I started the car and Willow looked at me,
"We're getting close to cracking this code and... Well that scares the fuck out of me." I pulled out of the driveway and started driving down the street, I looked at Willow,
"Don't worry I'm here for you and I won't let anyone do anything to you, I promise." Willow smiled and looked back at the road,
"So do you have an idea who our Axe Man is?" I shook my head,
"No clue but if I had to put my money on it, it would either be Tony Brooks or The Blue Brothers." Willow nodded,
"I agree with you on that one Jack, but how do we know if The Blue Brothers are even still active?"
"We don't but I have a feeling one of the members are involved, it could be very well that Tony knows something."
"There's something I forgot to tell you Jack, Tony came into the bar a couple of days before your father died and was threatening Mr. Cajan, I think it had something to do about his sister but he said he would kill him if he had the chance, he'd chop him into tiny pieces with his hatchet." My eyes grew wide,
"Looks like we have something on Mr. Brooks, thanks Willow." She smiled,
"No problem Jack, just remembered that little piece of information."
"We'll have to see what this address has in store for us." Willow nodded,
"I agree with you Jack." We arrived at our destination, I turned the car off and we got out and I locked the car, we walked to the front door of the house and I knocked on the door... No one answered,
"Looks like no one's home." Willow looked at me,
"Well now what?" I looked at her and shrugged,
"We'll have to find a different way in." She nodded,
"Sounds good." We walked towards the back of the house, we reached the back door. I noticed that the door was partially opened,
"Over here, found a way in... But we may have company waiting inside." I took my gun out and so did Willow, I walked in and Willow followed me in through the back door,
"I don't like that the door was opened." I nodded in agreement,
"Yeah... Be careful." She nodded, we walked into the kitchen, the cupboards were all open,
"Looks like someone was needing food... Maybe for a trip?" I shrugged,
"Maybe but let's look around." We walked out of the kitchen and into the dining room, there was three empty dinner plates on the table,
"Looks like they ate before leaving for that trip." I nodded and looked at the plates closer and noticed that the food left on the plates was half crusty, half fresh,
"It looks like they ate a couple hours ago, they could've left maybe an hour ago." We walked out of the dining room and into the living room,
"Surprised not to see the TV on nothing but static, like the movies." I chuckled,
"This is real life, not the movies."
"What about Stake, the demon living in you?" I looked into her eyes,
"Stake is more than a demon, he's... Something else entirely but not a demon... He's an entity living in a different dimension."
"How's he inside your mind?" I smiled,
"I've been asking that question for ten years now, and I still haven't got an answer from him."
"Then how can you trust him?" I shrugged,
"I don't know, I sense something in him... Something human."
"Wha..." Just then we heard footsteps upstairs, we run into the living room closet. The footsteps got closer and closer to the stairs, and then the footsteps started going down the stairs, we heard a man mumbling, we couldn't hear what he was saying until he got into the living room,
"Yes sit the house is empty." We heard a muffled voice talking to him,
"They must've known we were after them, I'll find their trail and bring them to you, goodbye sir." Just then he hung up his cellphone and left the house, we got out of the closet,
"That was close, I think that guy is involved in this situation." Just then we heard laughing and turned around and saw Stake sitting on the couch,
"There is similarities of what we did ten years ago and now in this case, the only difference is it's not us... So who's the imposter?" I nodded,
"That's a very good question." Stake looked at Willow,
"Willow, I sense you seem to have some distrust in me?" Willow nodded,
"Yes I do, I want to know something Stake."
"And what's that my dear?"
"What do you gain by playing this game?" He smiled,
"I gain my old life back, back before the... Accident."
"What accident?" He shook his head,
"That's not important right now, what's important is to find out who the Axe Man is." Willow looked at me,
"Do you know about this... This accident?" I shook my head,
"No but Stake's right, that's not important." Stake looked at me,
"Jack, I fear the people involved with the Axe Man are the same people that betrayed us ten years ago." Willow looked at me,
"What people?" I looked down and back up at Willow,
"Ten years ago me and Stake created a cult, a cult to make this world pure and strong again but we were betrayed by our own, so I helped my father arrest some of my own people and get back at the ones that betrayed me, the first two I got my father to arrest were my most loyal members Thomas Houston and Mike Harris, they knew what had to be done but the others didn't want to be on my side anymore, after seeing Mike Harris and him telling me that he's no longer on my side, he had to die but Thomas, Thomas is my only loyal friend now, besides you Willow."
"So you're the leader of a cult?" I nodded,
"Yes but it's not what you think, we're trying to purify the world and make it a better place." Willow nodded,
"This world does need to be clensed." Willow looked at me,
"So you still want to be with me by my side?" She nodded,
"Yes, of course I do." Stake looked at the both of us,
"Well I'm gonna go back, I sense there's something of importance here." Just then he disappeared,
"Let's go look upstairs." We walked up the stairs the man came down from, we reached the top,
"You go right, I go left?" I nodded and she went left and I started going down the right hallway, I walked down the hallway until I came to a bedroom, it had a bed, dresser and mirror hanging above the dresser, the room must've belonged to a girl probably the daughter, there was pictures all over the dresser, I picked up a picture of a young girl in her teens with a familiar man... Tony Brooks,
Jack I've found something!" I put the picture in my jacket pocket and walked to the bedroom Willow was in,
"What is it Willow?" She handed me a picture and it was a picture of a bunch of cops, she handed me the picture,
" Do you know anyone?" I looked at the picture closely and in the front row there was a familiar girl,
"Yeah this girl here, front row in the middle." I pointed to the picture of... Laura,
"Who is it?"
"Her name is Laura, when I was a cop she was the only one I could trust."
"Well you may not want to the read the back of it then." I have her a questionable look,
"Read it." I took the picture and turned it around and it said 'The Blue Brothers' circa 2017, "can you trust her now?"
"I can't believe it, I thought The Blue Brothers were inactive, well at least that's what my father thought."
"Well it looks like they're active to me."
"For all we know they could be the ones behind the whole Axe Man murders."
"What do we do now Jack?"
"I think we did enough investigating for one night." She nodded in agreement,
"I agree, I'm pretty tired we found out a lot today." I nodded, we walked down the stairs, we left the way we came and got into the car and we buckled our seatbelts in and I turned the car on and started driving,
"So Jack, can I stay with you tonight?" I nodded,
"Of course you can Willow, I'm here to protect you." She smiled,
"Thanks Jack, I really love you." I smiled,
"I love you too Willow." We reached my apartment and I parked the car across the street, we got out of the car and walked towards the apartment, we reached the front door and I opened it and I took out my key and unlocked the door and I went to my mailbox and unlocked it and got my mail out of it. We walked to the elevator and we got in and I pressed the third floor button and the elevator started going up, the elevator stopped on my floor we got out and started walking down the hallway towards my apartment. We reached my apartment door and unlocked the door, we walked into my apartment,
"So we had an interesting day, don't you think?" I nodded,
"Yes very interesting indeed, I don't know who that guy was at that house but I bet he's after the family that lived there and I can't believe Laura is apart of the Blue Brothers, what do you think?"
"Well I bet the guy finding the family is an enemy of the Blue Brothers." I rubbed my chin,
"That very well could be it but who would want to be enemies of the Blue Brothers?" I took my jacket off and put it in my closet, and I took my shoes off and put them on the shoe rack, "make yourself feel at home." She took her coat off and put it in the closet, she also took her shoes off and put them on the shoe rack. We walked into my living room, she sat on the couch and I sat on my chair, I picked up the remote to my TV and pressed the power button and the TV turned on,
"And in recent news, there is a menace out in the streets of Chicago, the cops have dubbed 'The Axe Murderer' for his gruesome nature of killing his victims with an axe, the police have issued a warning to citizens saying 'dont walk the streets alone at night and be extra careful.' Also the police have issued q missing person case out as well for the Bower family, the father of the family was the well known police officer that is as a big help ten years ago with the arrest of ten of his colleagues, David Bower. For channel 5 news, I'm Mary Wilson." I turned the channel to the sports channel, there was a football game on,
"So looks like we aren't the only ones looking for the Axe Man." I nodded and looked at Willow,
"But we definitely know more than the cops, so we have to be careful because the cops will find out and then they'll be on our trails, it will be very dangerous... We may have to kill some cops eventually... So Willow, you want to continue with me?" She smiled,
"Of course, together till the end." She got up and walked up to me and kissed me and let go of me,
"Together till the end." She went back to the couch and sat back down,
"I love you Jack." I smiled,
"I love you too Willow." I turned the TV off and got up out of the chair I was sitting in and took my shirt off and put it on the chair I was sitting in, I'm pretty tired, I think I'm gonna go to bed... You going to join me?" She blushed and smiled at me and got up and took her shirt and bra off,
"I'm tired and yes I will join you." I started walking towards my bedroom and she started following me, I reached my bedroom and took off my pants and my boxers, she walked in and saw my naked body and smiled and took her pants and panties off and I laid down and Willow climbed on top of me,
"I love you Jack."
"I love you too Willow." I awake and looked at Willow sleeping next to me and I smiled, I turned around and looked at the time it said eight o'clock in the morning and I get up and go into the washroom to pee. I flush the toilet and go back into my room, and put my boxers and pants on and walked to Willow, and kissed her on the back of her head. I walked into the living room and got my shirt and put it on and walked into the kitchen and made a pot of coffee and poured myself a cup and started drinking it,
"Good morning Jack." I turned around and saw Willow standing there,
"Good morning Willow, how are you?" She smiled at me,
"I'm good, but I could use a cup of coffee." I nodded and poured her a cup of coffee and handed it to her,
"Here you go Willow." She took the coffee from me and started drinking it,
"Ah that's a good coffee, thanks Jack." I shrugged,
"Well thank you, but all I did was pour coffee into a cup." I chuckled, she started chuckling ad well,
"Well you did it really good, and today is going to be very interesting day." I nodded,
"Yes it is, can't wait for it to get started."
"Today we're going to be talking to Tony Brooks." I nodded,
"Yes, we will have to be careful, he could be armed and he is very dangerous." She cocked her gun,
"Well thank God we got guns then." I nodded and cocked my gun,
"Yeah, thank God." I put my empty coffee cup in the sink and went in the closet where I put my jacket, I opened the closet and grabbed my jacket and put it on, and I put my shoes on and so did Willow, I opened my apartment door and held it open for Willow and went in the hallway and locked my door and put my keys away, "let's go and find clues about the Axe Man."
