Chapter 2
A few days later, you and George dress up to head to a press conference the guys have lined up. The car pulls up an the two of you run to it. You're quiet as the driver takes you to the building where the conference is being held.
You get out of the car and run inside. You stop inside. You and George were the first ones to arrive so you wait in the lobby for the others.
Glancing around, you are breathless. This place was so big beautiful and big! You spin as your eyes are focused on the intricate details of the artwork on the ceiling. George comes over to you and grabs your hand.
"It's time to go." He whispers. You nod and follow him as he leads the way to the doors. He shields you as he opens them. People immediately crowd the door and he pushes through slowly, hand tight around yours.
When he finally reaches the table, you squeeze his hand and sit off to the side by the girls as George joins Paul, Ringo and John. George hates press conferences.
"They always ask such stupid questions." He reasons whenever asked why.
After about an hour of incredibly silly questions about their hair, music, ect., you see George getting antsy. He's clearly about ready to get out of there. Then of course someone asks about the girls. The other guys talk about their women and how great they are. Someone directs a question at George.
"Now George, we don't see much of your girlfriend. Tell us about her since we barely know anything." George blushes as he sneaks a peek at you. You smile, encouraging him.
"Well, the reason you don't see her is because I am always worried. I worry she'll get trampled every time she tries to go to the store, I worry she'll be bombarded whenever she tries to catch a train. But she truly is great. She's a one in a million kind of gal and I'm lucky to be the one to call her mine. She always makes me food when I'm home, she calls to wish me good shows, knows what to do when I phone, homesick. And even just last week she and John surprised me. He secretly flew her out to our show in Italy and she totally shocked me when we came off stage and I saw her. She is such an incredible person. I don't say this often enough," George turns to look at you,
"But I love you. A lot."
Everyone is the audience goes mushy as you and George smile at each other. You mouth 'I love you' back. Soon enough the conference is over. George is at your side before Cynthia has even finished a sentence.
"Hungry?" Paul asks as the group of you walk towards the side exit towards the car.
"Starved!" Maureen says and everyone laughs.
"We'll be right behind." George says, holding you back, as everybody loads up into the car.
"We will just take a cab or something." He says and John makes some witty remark, you can't hear it over Paul and Ringo laughing. Linda tells you where to meet them and you wave goodbye as the car pulls out of the drive, swarmed by fans as soon as it reaches the street. The two of you watch in silence, still holding hands.
Finally George turns back to the building and leads you inside. You wonder what's up, but with George, it could be anything so you let him pull you through the halls.
He reaches a door and turns the knob.
