~~~"Hey, I'm here!" You yelled as you walked into the RE: coffee shop. Given, it was eight in the morning, but did you care? Not one bit.
The white haired man, Yomo, glared at you as he walked out of the back room. "You realize what time it is, right?" His gruff voice laced with annoyance said as you smirked in the doorway.
You shook your head "well, I'm here aren't I? I think that's the only thing that matters". Yomo rolled his eyes and began taking down coffee beans. "Meet Touka upstairs, she wants to talk to you".
You pouted and nodded, heading into the same door Yomo walked out of.
You jogged up the stairs, jumping one of two on your way.
You walked along the small hallway before opening one of the doors, seeing your purple haired friend tying her apron.
"Hey, Tou! What's up?"
Touka winced at the sound of your loud voice and sent you a small glare from behind her fringe. "It's eight in the damn morning, don't be so loud".
You rolled your eyes and plopped down on the chair she was standing next to. "Both you and Yomo are so grumpy today. Did I do something wrong to make you so grouchy?" Touka sighed and turned to you, a sympathetic expression on her face.
"I got a call from Nishiki last night. Apparently he got into some trouble with the CCG". You shrugged "so? He gets in trouble with them all the time. That's the problem that comes with being such a high ranked ghoul".
Touka pursed her lips, looking off to the side. "No, Y/N... Nishiki ran into him".
Your body froze, and you looked up at Touka, your eyes glassing over. "Are you sure? Maybe it could be a mistake or, maybe he saw him wrong? For fucks sake, he's dead!"
Your friend shook her head "he said that he had recognized him somehow, even said his name. Right after that, though he freaked out on himself and started breaking down. But Nishiki was sure it was him, same Kagune, face, and kagugan".
You took in a shaky breath, holding your head in your hands as you shut your eyes tight, trying to fend off the tears. "No, no, no...how is he...? How is he alive?! Kaneki is supposed to be dead, he got stabbed in the god damn eyes by the White Reaper! No one survives something like that!"
Touka put her hands on your shoulders, trying to calm you down. "Hey, hey, I know. I'm freaked out to, but atleast now we know he's ok".
You pushed her hands off you ands stood up abruptly, tears running down your cheeks as you glared at her.
"But he doesn't remember us! What's him being alive worth if he doesn't remember shit?! He doesn't remember you, or Anteiku, or any of his friends! He doesn't remember me! It's been two fucking years, and I was just coming to terms with him being gone! How do you expect me to handle this?! It's not like I can ever see him!".
Touka dug through the pocket of her apron and pulled out a small stack of folded papers. She handed them to you "these are papers for a secretary job at the CCG. I applied for you last night as soon as I heard the news. If you take this, it'll give you a chance to see him and maybe bring his memories back. I'm sure if he sees you, something is bound to click".
You took the papers from her hands and looked at them and then looked back at her. "They have RC scanners, how the hell do you expect me to get through them?".
"Those scanners are designed to detect any ghoul that wasn't a member, or related to a member of the organization V. Your dad was a part of that, right?". You nodded "yeah, before he died. He didn't tell me anything about it though, only that they were trying to 'establish peace' between humans and ghouls". Touka pushed the papers to your chest, her hands clutching you're tightly.
"Since your Dad was a member of V, and you're his daughter, the scanners won't detect your RC cells". Realization dawned on you "oh, so that's why you had me do this". Touka nodded.
She clutched your hands tighter with her own, a pleading look in her purple eyes.
"Please, Y/N. Bring him back to us".
"Bring Kaneki home".
