Confessions

As I walked into the gym everything me was staring at me. Immediately, I looked down and avoided eye contact as I walked to my exercise spot. Hearing the whispers about me, I just sat down and waited for the teacher. "Daphne?" the teacher went on calling names and marking people here or absent. The people kept whispering when we got to our stretches. "We're going to play baseball today. Samantha and Cerina, you're team captains. Choose your teammates." Mr.Malik said as I simply sighed. As Samantha and Cerina chose their teams I stood patiently waiting to be chosen, knowing I'll be chosen last as usual. When it came to the last two people, Edward and I, Cerina chose Edward. Knowing what was about to come I looked down. "You take her." Cerina said to Samantha. "No, you have her, my team has enough players." Slowly looking up I said, "I could just sit out..." they smiled at each other and nodded. "That would work." I silently walked over to the bleachers and sat down, bringing my earphones out and listening to music. I didn't notice when class was over so I flinched when someone tapped my shoulder. I took an earphone out and looked up to see Edward. "Hey, I'm sorry about all the things everyone's been saying about you, and how they treated you today. Also, class is over." he said with his dashing smile. "Thanks for telling me, and it's meh. I'm pretty used to it by now." I forced a small smile. Thoughts running through my head, I got up and walked to my next class. Once I walked in and sat down, our substitute teacher strode in. Quietly I asked to go to the bathroom. On my way to the restroom I heard Samantha and Cerina talking...ironically about me. "I can't believe Edward wasted his breath talking to that thing." the voice that sounded like Cerina's said. "I know, why would someone as hot as him talk to someone as ugly and obviously worthless as her? Like honestly, we're way better than her." Samantha said. Quickly I ran into the bathroom crying. After the period ended, I wiped my eyes and walked out, bumping into someone. "I'm so sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going an-"
"Hey, its fine, wait, were you crying?" a slightly familiar voice said. When I looked up, I saw Edward. I was turning to run away but he gently grabbed my arm. "Please don't run away, I actually was looking for you. I wanted to talk to you." he said softly. I nodded slowly, scared of what might happen. He led me to a private spot where the teachers don't check. "So um what did you huh want to talk to me a-um about?" I asked warily. "Well, I've really wanted to talk to you about this before, but you were with Callum..." he started and I just looked at him confused. "You see, I like you, a lot. I heard what those girl said and told them off. You're beautiful, especially compared to them. They're just jealous of you because of how I look at you compared to how I look at them. Daphne, will you be my girlfriend?" I stared at him in shock, with new tears in my eyes. "I've um liked you in secret for a long time...I just uh thought you never would like me back. To your question asking to date me...yes, I'd like to be your girlfriend Edward." He hugged me once I was don't speaking, and for the first time in a long time, I really smiled.
