Chapter 2.

Kate didn't know what tom meant but her curiosity was killing her so, she asked the only other person who would know, his sister rin. When tom left Kate went on her phone and called rin.

"Hey, rin can we talk meet my at the library in five" Kate hung up the phone and almost out of nowhere rin ran up to Kate in a panic "Kate are you okay" rin sounded distressed " I'm fine rin, I was just wanting to know something about tom....about how he wouldn't join the track team" Kate said a frown on her face. "Oh...that" rin said looking down, "well..it all started before high school when we were kids, bullies targeted him because of his eyes since one is green and the other is gold, he was shone by everyone including the jocks, after he wanted to join track he had to be faster than them to get away from the fights they would start, he wanted to join the track team but he got rejected, he was then even chased by bullies on the track team. Therefore he had to be faster than even them. Eventually nobody could catch him but that didn't stop them pulling dirty pranks and putting death threats in his locker. 

But after we entered high school it all seemed to calm down because he wears special contact lenses that hide his eyes. But he hasn't run since, the one thing he enjoyed most, Rin explained. Kate was speechless this was why he ran away from her earlier. 

After school ended Kate was putting her books away when she heard a voice from behind "hey Kate..." Kate looked behind her to see that it was tom, he looked at her "we need to talk" tom said in a serious tone.
