It was dark the day they had the funeral. Rain pounded relentlessly at the sorrowful ground and their footsteps echoed across the empty hall. Occasionally, a small sniffle or stifled sob would break the silence - but for the most part no one spoke. All six of them were in absolute disbelief. No one spoke, except for the Minister, who delivered the eulogy.
One by one, the guests left, leaving small tears in their wake, until it was just his friends - family - left. They stepped up towards the casket - the body was mangled when it had been found and so the casket was only there for symbolic purposes.
They said their words quietly - words they never thought to say to him.
Finally, they began to walk away, not to forget, but to remember what he was to them.
And on his gravestone, it read,
Rest in Peace
Kim Namjoon.
