Why?

*Uki's POV*

Hood up, hands in pockets, look like a threat. I didn't feel like talking, or being at school to be honest. Wanna know something else? I'm forgetting about Libra. I finally know why I stopped so many years ago. The only person I could accept talking to was Hendrix.

"How you feeling?" He asked, innocently.

"Like shit. I let her play with my heart."

"You'll be fine. What about the other girls?"

"Not feeling it today."

"We're supposed to be getting a new student."

"What does that have to do with me?"

"You want the truth or a lie?"

"The truth."

"It's Gem." I chuckled. Just another reason to make me feel like shit today.

"Gem who? The Gem who fucked me up so many years ago?"

"Yeah. She looks so different--"

"Why?"

"Why what?"

"Why the hell is she back? Is she here to ruin me again?"

"If you didn't cut me off I could tell you."

"Go ahead, continue." I put my earbuds in but he yanked them out.

"She had amnesia so she won't remember you. Not as the person's heart she broke. You're just a known stranger."

"So I'll get hurt again?"

"She's not cruel like she used to be. She's a sweetheart."

"If she's a new student how do you know everything about her?"

"Hacked into her files."

"And?"

"I helped her move the boxes into her house."

"You sure this isn't an act?"

"I hacked into her files, Romani. That includes medical records, birth certificate, everything."

"Alright, I believe you. Where is she?" Why was I concerned for her? I dunno. Part of me wanted to use Gem to get back at Libra. Part of me didn't care. Part of me wanted me to fall in love with her and get hurt again. She was my poison. She was gonna become poison I drunk daily. She was gonna be the poison I love as it slowly kills me.

"In the office. Wanna go pick her up?"

"Sure. Won't kill me." We walked to the office and there she was. Those emerald green eyes, her jet black hair in a braided crown with a few strands out in front. Her skin, light as can be but still a dark shade. Her lip gloss shiny as ever. I couldn't help it. I was breathing in her toxic chemicals again.

"These two will give you a tour of the school. When you're done take her to class and come back here so you can get an excuse." We nodded and walked out the office. I knew I was being a creep by staring at her. She looked at me and smiled.

"I'm Gem if you were wondering." Her voice was soft and sweet.

"Romani. Uki Romani."

"Movie lover, eh?"

"I watch them every now and then."

"A lot of action movies?"

"Yeah. How can you tell?"

"It's just the way you look. And people who love action movies love sexual interaction." I'm not sure if that was a flirt attempt or an insult. Hendrix cleared his throat.

"Can we keep this appropriate? I'm feeling a little uncomfortable and hella ignored."

"Sorry," She looked at him. Pausing, not knowing his name.

"Hendrix."

"Sorry Hendrix, but I'd give you more attention if I wasn't so into girls. And this one has me hooked." I chuckled. Hendrix glared at me and walked us through the school. By the time we finished walking around it was our lunch period. Usually, it'd be me and Hendrix listening to the car's radio. Not today though. I was laying down in the backseat, Gem was messing with the radio, and Hendrix was on the hood of the car, smoking a blunt.

"What are you doing, Gem?" I questioned. She changed the station I was listening to.

Grinding slowly

"It's my favorite song." She said, smiling at me.

"And it's my car radio. Change it back."

"Aww, is the baby mad because she can't listen to her music?"

"Yeah, and this baby will fight." She giggled at my comment.

"We can change it back after this."

"You can change it now." I demanded.

"Noooo," She whined. "It's my favorite, Roman!" I sighed. She used to call me that.

"Don't make me come up there."

"What are you gonna do? Spank me?" She said, looking back with a smirk on her face.

"I just might."

"Aren't you something. I'll change it back," She changed the station back. "Happy now?"

"Obviously." She smiled.

"I know this is sudden but could you drive me home?"

"You don't know the way or something?"

"I know how to get there. I just don't wanna be alone and you seem like a fun person." She said, hiding her blush but I already saw it.

"Seems like you're gonna want me to drive you everyday."

"You can't escort your queen to her castle, Knight Romani?" She joked.

"Alright. I'll drive you."

"Thank you."

"We could always skip school."

"On my first day?"

"Yeah! Hell, that's what I did."

"Sure." Why? I'll tell you why. Later. I wanna enjoy this and go through pain later.
