(This chapter will still be pretty fuckin' serious, just not as serious)
The man who removed his mask was my father... i can't believe it.
I thought he was dead.
Yet here he was, looking as alive as ever its strange seeing him in that uniform, Special Operations, it said on the sleeve. He didn't say anything to me, he just cut my bindings and walked me out of the room. We walked outside to a helicopter that was waiting for us, and as soon as we boarded it took off. Upon closer inspection of his face, i noticed that he had a big scar running from his right eyebrow to his chin. He said nothing to me the whole heli ride, he simply stared, as though he wanted to say something, but simply couldn't.
"What happened to you, Dad?" i asked, hoping for an answer
"Hmmpf." He simply huffed.
He was refusing to talk to me?
"Why won't you talk to me?" i begged for an answer, a simple explanation
He did not respond, he just kept staring.
We touched down at the military base. 'Wait. base? There were no bases in Normandy...' i thought to myself 'how long was i out for?'
"How long was i out? Where are we? WHAT IS GOING ON!?" i started shouting.
I took off my helmet and ran my hand through my jet black hair. What was going on? Where the hell am I? I look around, the usual is here. Medical tent, jeeps, a mounted machine gun, the basic battlefield base, but there are no beaches, we're in a forest. I look at myself for the first time i woke up.
I had on the basic U.S. Army uniform, drab fatigues (which now had my blood down the front), my harness, holster, and my pack, which was very light after the Nazi's took most of my belongings. I had tears in my shirt and pants, probably where they beat me. My uniform was wrecked, i'll have to get a new one from the commission's officer. Where was the commission's officer? I didn't see one in the camp, there must've only been 20 soldiers living in that camp, along with the M.A.S.H unit that was stationed there. It was sad to see, such an empty camp with so many wounded and dead coming in each day.
"Where are we going?" I asked, not really expecting an answer
"We're going to see the Colonel." Dad said, his voice was strange, a mix between cracks and deep.
"Okay, but where can i get a new uniform, mines kinda destroyed!" I asked
"You don't get a new uniform, just take off the jacket, wear your undershirt, LIKE A MAN" Dad yelled
"Jeez, okay, no reason to yell."
