Dreams

You are in my dreams.

And in my dreams, you move here.

We go to the same college together.

You tell me that you and her didn't work out because all you could think of was me.

It is so romantic and we live together and everything is great.

It is like in the movies where the guy professes his love and everything is happily ever after.

However.

When I wake up in the morning, I know it will never happen.

So I write this poetry to remind myself of this:

Reality does not equal fairy tales.

Fairy tales are not reality.

So then while I am awake I try to force myself to move on.

To not think about you as anything other than my best friend.

And most days, if I just don't think about it at all, I'm okay.

But at the end of the day, my mind likes to play tricks on me.

My dreams are full of different scenarios and actions and words.

But, I will not fall for my imagination's schemes.

Because they are just dreams.

and life is not dream, it is more of a nightmare.

I just want you to know:

You are the man of my dreams.

To me, you are everything I could ever ask for.

And unless my dreams come true,

I will try to compare everyone else to you.

I don't mean to, I just do.

I hope I am a part of your dreams, no matter how I am portrayed in them.

These silly little things make it harder for me.

They make me fantasize.

They make me hope.

And that is one dangerous thing to do.

These stupid dreams.
