I wake up squished up against the wall on Luke's bottom bunk. I try to turn over but Summer, being the actual bed hog she is, has her butt pressed against my back and her arms and legs sprawled everywhere. I bite my lip in attempt to suppress a groan as I struggle to turn over and look at the clock without waking Summer up. After what felt like 5 hours of effort, I am finally able to turn over, sighing as I catch a glimpse of the time.
3:07 am.
I sigh and try to wiggle my way out of the bed. After another good ten minutes of struggling, I'm finally free. Smoothing out my pyjamas I carefully open the bedroom door to get a drink of water.
I walk out of the bedroom and down the hallway, passing Luke's room and the bathroom along the way. I quietly tiptoe past Liz's room and down the stairs, praying that I hadn't woken anyone up. I turn the corner and see a light on in the kitchen. My heart stops as I peek around the corner, only to hear someone humming to themselves. I cautiously enter the kitchen and see a tall blonde haired boy digging through the fridge, presumably looking for a midnight snack. I try my best not to let out laugh at the scene, but fail miserably, as I let out a small giggle. The boy jumps and turns around quickly, a package of pizza pops hanging in his mouth, causing me to laugh harder.
He was quick to remove the pizza pops from his mouth as he gives me a confused look, he opens his mouth to say something but I cut him off. "Hi, I'm Cassidy, the exchange student from Canada." I say quickly, trying to answer any questions he might have as to why there was a stranger lurking in his kitchen at 3 am. His face suddenly shifted from confused to a small smile as he sticks out his free hand to shake mine.
"Hi Cassidy, I'm Luke." He says his voice deeper than I would've thought and his Australian accent very prominent. I stopped for a second finally taking a good look at the young boy. Giving him a once over, the first thing I notice is his immense height, he was most likely about 6 feet. He had flat messy blonde hair that laid against his forehead and his amazingly blue eyes stared into my boring brown ones. I froze as I realized his attire. Simple red flannel pyjama pants and no shirt. I feel my face heat up and turn red as I realize that I was staring at his perfectly toned chest.
"Like what you see?" He smirked, causing me a to groan and cover my face with my hands.
"I am so so sorry, I swear I just came down here to get a drink" I reply, still beet red from the previous events.
"It's ok." He laughed, causing his nose to crinkle. "I was just kidding, here" He muttered opening a cabinet and handing me a glass. "The water is just in the fridge". I smile and take the glass, making my way towards the fridge. I start to fill up my glass, I look back and in the corner of my eye I catch him staring at me with a weird look on his face.
"You like what you see?" I mumble, laughing slightly at my own joke. With still no reply from the blonde boy I turn towards him waving my hand in the air, suddenly becoming very self conscious.
"You like Blink?" He inquires, raising an eyebrow as if it's the craziest thing in the world.I look down to my old ratty Blink-182 tank top that I didn't even realize I was wearing and chuckle to myself.
"Yeah" I reply casually, shrugging my shoulders. "They're one of my favourite bands."
"One of?" He asks the amazed look still on his face.
"What?" I say again, laughing lightly.
"I've never really met anyone other than my mates that are into that type of music." He replies taking his pizza pop out of the microwave. I let out a loud laugh, almost spilling my water. "What?" He asks, looking more confused than ever.
"I think we are going to get along just fine." I reply with a wink, making my way back upstairs. I push the door open to find Summer sprawled even more (if that's even possible) across the bed. I groan and make my way up to the top bunk, not even willing to try to tackle this problem and crawl under the soft, warm covers of my own bed and slowly drift off back to sleep.
