My name is Pepper. I am 13 years old and I live in Colorado. 5,430 Feet from where I want to be. The ocean. The sun was setting on the house in the sky. That's what my brother and I called our run-down home. Painted sky blue on the outside, and on the inside a light shade of white, like the clouds. Though it wasn't much, it was home. I shared a room with my older brother and a bed with my pup. I shared a house with my mother, and a heart with my father, who had died. 5 years prior. I shared my neighborhood with my best friend, Hunter. And I shared a state with the best people I knew. I shared a dream with my dog, to some day frolic with dolphins in the wild. But for now, I was a 13 year old girl, with her 17 year old brother, her dead father and dying mother and her pet dog, who was technically illegal in her state. I am Pepper.
