Critical Moment

Zorro was quiet for the whole ride, his head shaking and bobbing with every little movement of Astro's ship.

As The Comet tore through the particle barrier and landed harshly, Astro popped the canopy open and grabbed Zorro. He sprinted with his injured friend into the elevator. However, Zorro wasn't responsive at this time, he was simply being dragged by his adrenaline filled friend.
------------------
Astro hauled his ass into the medical bay with Zorro in his arms. He was tearing up at this point, afraid that he was going to lose his friend. "Medic!" He stood in the "lobby" of sorts, waiting for a response.

Zorro's visor flickered on for a moment, enough for him to point at a nearby life support table. All he would have to be was laid on it and monitored. The electronics and wavelengths from the table would keep him stable.

Astro ran over as quiet as possible among his light weeping before setting his comrade down on the table and fixing up the life support to his friend.

A crackling is heard as a meddroid separates itself from the nearby charging rack. The presence of a body on the table was enough to trigger its activation, and the thunder of its metal legs starts without warning as it approches the wounded Zorro.

Zorro fell upon the table and held his side, his lung could be heard expanding against his metal frame work. The virus was spreading at a minor rate, being dormant from Zedd. It still caused significant swelling.

Astro sat back on a chair, staring at the floor and trying to control his emotions. He knew that everything would be alright, a droid is here to help and fix his friend up.

The machine stared intently into the mans wounds. So far, the stations database had only been given one solution to the infectious nature of the blood... Removal of infected tissue. Its finger tips split open and slid back, revealing blades reassembling medical shears. Its other hand reached into compartments under the table procurring an anesthetic solution and cauterizing tool. It injected the anesthetic into Zorro's open chest wound, and set about into cutting out a circular region of tissue wherever its sensors could identify the foreign contaminant.

Zorros grasped onto the side of the table madly, before the pain started to ease as the anesthetic took hold. He visor started flickering and he could be heard panting through the vents on his metal cheeks. Blood was seeping out of the hole in his side where the drone was cutting into the lower half of his left lung.

The whir of servos drowned out all other sounds in the room as the machine cut in deeper. This was a subtle task, far better left to human hands, but the droid pressed on. After the anesthetic fully settled the machine had nearly inserted its full arm in the cavity in Zorro's chest, removing the last of the infected tissue.

His body was weak, his arms desperately attempted to lift themselves up before they pathetically fell to his sides. He was stuck on his back, staring at the ceiling with nothing do to but pray for his own life at this very moment, and hope none of the virus got into his blood stream.

The droids arms were in deep enough to make Zorro appear as a puppet, and even through its mechanical nature, one couldn't help but notice it was straining itself to keep working. It can only remove so much before even a pod wont heal it... But the deeper it cut the more it found. A nearby biohazard container was teeming with still pulsating globs of amputated flesh, as the droid finished its work.

His lung wasn't in good condition after the surgery, it was throbbing much like a heart, although his breathing was as regular as he could make it. The blood had pooled around his waist where it flowed from the hole. One couldn't help but have a messy surgery in something as critical as this, it was a question of life and death. The answer could only be found in a few moments.

Soon enough the elevator arrives as the doors opened and the two siblings stepped out and walked inside the med-bay. Seeing what's going down, Ice walks to Astro. "Hey Astro, what's going on? Is Captain Zorro ok? What happened to him?" He asked, his voice showing concern for the leader.
"Is he going to be ok...I would hate to think about the worse." Snow(Ice's sister) said looking at what the med-bot is doing her face showing worry.

Astro stood and wiped his eyes. "I sure as hell hope he's ok. But if he isn't, he's getting a damn good funeral to boot." Astro gave a weak smile and sat back down, very silently crying again.

The droid suddenly, but considerately, to avoid any further damage. It couldn't detect anymore of the contaminants presence, but his insides were eviscerated by the operation. The hum of servos turned to a mechanical strain and groan as it scoops him off the table, its feet thundering once more as it runs to a rejuvenation pod, blood trailing the floor as it moves.

The pod hisses open as the machine approaches, and Zorro is placed inside carefully. The pod seals again, the insides pressurized, and the display kicks to life. A weeks time till the procedure is complete. The droid steps back, turns about where it stands, and prioritizes sanitizing the work area.
---------------
Astro stood and walked over to the elevator without saying a word. He took it up to the hangar and sighed.
Lumbered back into the hangar solemnly. He groaned and hopped back into his ship. He leaned back and dozed off to sleep.
---------------
Zorro stared out the window before the pods systems shut his own down, and he was out into a comatose state. He was left to wander his dreams as the pod worked its magic to save his lung.
