"Miss Bisognin? Miss Bisognin?" A voice pestered. I groggily opened my eyes, shocked at the white in the room.
Why does my body hurt? Where even am I? I thought. Then I remembered.
I remembered holding the pills in my hand, counting 27. I remembered how my mom almost completely ignored me. I remembered her dealer's shouts as he dialed 911.
"Miss Bisognin? Are you awake?" The doctor asked. I lifted my head weakly.
"Yes." I replied, my voice coming out much more hoarse then planned.
"Oh! I'll get you some water. By the way, I'm Dr. McLoughlin."
"Oh, Sean~" A voice sounded from my right. I looked over; a boy with blonde hair and blue eyes looked at "Sean", then at me.
"Felix, stop that already! It's annoying!" Sean said. I noticed an Irish accent; I made a mental note to ask him about it later.
"Oh yeah? Make me!" Felix called out.
I quietly begged, "water, please," and Sean immediately gasped in guilt.
"I'm so sorry! I'll get it for you right now!" He said, scampering off to get the precious liquid.
Felix turned to face me. "Felix, 19, self-mutilation. You?"
I had guessed that this was hospital slang, so I replied, "Marzia, 17, OD."
"Wow. Nationality?"
"Italian. You?" That wasn't a complete lie, as my father was from Sicily, but my mom was born and raised in Florida, where we are now.
"Swedish. Mom and dad moved me when I was 2."
"Speaking of mom and dad, it's visiting time!" A cute boy said, his blue eyes twinkling. He looked at me awkwardly. "Sorry, nobody can visit you for 24 hours after admission."
"No one would visit me anyways." I said, feeling a lump in my throat.
"You must be new. Hi, I'm Dr. Lester." The blue eyed doctor said, moving his black hair out of his face. Wow, he's really pale. That would explain the British accent.
Felix leaned over to me, our faces only about three feet apart, and whispered loud enough so that Dr. Lester could hear him. "That's the gay one."
"Felix!" The doctor shouted, clearly flustered.
"Actually, Felix, I believe the correct term is 'homosexual', so he's not gay, he's homosexual."
"Argh! Two of you!" The doctor said playfully. "What ever so will I do?"
"I'm here, Phil-er, Dr. Lester!" A brunette said, puffing out his skinny chest and fixing his mud-colored eyes on Phil.
"Yes! Nurse Howell! I don't even know your first name!" Felix yelled excitedly, pouting the last sentence.
"And it's going to stay that way." Nurse Howell said, as if it were true. "And before you ask, no, me and Phil are not together."
I looked at them quizzically. "I take it this happens a lot?"
They all jumped. "Uh, yeah..."
"Miss, I have your water!" Sean announced in that loud voice of his. I turned; he was covered in sweat, his face red but with a look of victory.
"Thanks, Sean." I teased. He gave me a playful glare.
"Don't let Mr. Kjellberg influence you. He's not a very professional person."
"I mean, do you really have to be professional?" I asked, sipping my drink. "Look at it this way: when your professional you're usually stuck up, and people don't like stuck up people. You've got to have fun and let loose a little, otherwise you'll stiffen like an unused limb."
Sean shrugged. "I guess..."
A woman rushed in and gave Felix a tight hug. "Felix! I'm so sorry, but your father was working!"
"It's fine mom, really. Oh, this is Marzia. Marzia, this is my mom."
I barely could lift my arm to shake her hand, but she pulled me into a gentle hug. "Oh, it's such a pleasure to meet you!" She said. I laughed.
"A hugger, I see." I smiled.
"I must warn you though, he loves ABBA."
"That's wonderful and all," I said, "but I can't stand them."
"ITS FUCKING ABBA!" Felix shouted. "HOW THE HELL COULD YOU NOT LIKE ABBA?"
"Felix!" The adults all shouted in unison.
"Language!"
"Geez, sorry." He said. It didn't even sound like a sincere apology.
Maybe that's why I laughed myself to sleep.Okay, that's all for today! I got this idea from the fic, "The Hummingbird", so go check that out! Also, I will try to update as much as possible! Constructive criticism is always appreciated. Stay safe!
