I hugged her. And she hugged me back, saying 'it'll be okay'. Then I rushed over to Summer, and together we helped her to the ambulance as Tazmin and Saffron were being taken away...
Try as I might, none of the memories of that week are fading-quite the opposite, in fact. Summer and I took a week off from school, spending the time resting in the hospital, with the others and the police gathered around our beds as we explained both sides of the story. I told them about Emerald's letter and Summer said about what'd happened at the start of lunch.
It is now one month after it all began, and Alex and I are standing by Brooklyn and Emerald's graves. I bent over to place a bouquet of beautiful lilac tulips on Brooklyn's and some sweet peas on Emerald's. "I still can't believe they're gone," I said to Alex, as I stared down at the flowers.
"I know," he agreed, as he gently slipped his arm over my shoulder and pulled me close. Then we began heading to the gates of the church. "I know."
