In the dead of the night, the moon shining ever so brightly, seeping in through the windows. In an obsolete looking room, very similar to a basement, cracks all over the floors, and walls all worn out. The presence of a throne at the other end of the space with stairs leading up to it makes it plausible that it is a throne room. An old man with really grey hair and a wrinkled face and forearms is sitting on the throne. His composure and the air about him makes it obvious that he's the king.

He has on an ox-blood coloured robe and a sinister-looking ring on his middle finger. Beside him is a little table holding a chalice containing a red liquid which is most likely blood and on the same table is his sword. Kneeling before him are fifteen people shrouded in black hooded capes. "What is the meaning of this? I did not summon you," he said in a deep, spine-shivering voice."I asked them here," said a voice from the shadows, footsteps drawing near. He is embraced by the moonlight and is revealed to be a tall, lean man with long silvery hair matching his robe. His fangs glisten as he opens his mouth to speak. "Yes, your best fighters, your assassins, your elite squad. It took a lot of convincing and persuasion with some hard facts to turn them. Although some of them weren't all so understanding. Sadly they are no longer here with us in the land of the living." The cloaked figures make a path for the blonde man leading to the stairs. "Salazar," the king calls out. "What are you planning?"

"We've had enough of living in the shadows, we own this world as much as the humans, maybe even more, for our sacrifice is the reason those pitiful creatures still roam the earth" replies Salazar.

The king, now infuriated, responds to his taunts, "are you out of your mind? In the shadows is where the vampires are supposed to remain. We don't want an all-out war with the humans..." "Oh but war is what we're after, we're gonna subjugate the humans and live like gods. We are stronger, faster and live ten times their age. I don't want to have to retire you by force, oh king, relinquish the throne and let me take it from here" interjected Salazar.

The king's fury is obvious, his eyes and face red with rage. He stands up abruptly and Salazar and his goons take a step back. The king, though debilitated by his old age, is well known as the strongest vampire still living. He lets down his robe, underneath is a battle-ready, sleeveless vest. He speaks up "I see we are not settling this amicably. Get ready to lose your lives." He takes a huge gulp of the liquid in the chalice, picks up his sword, raises it, holding it on both ends ready to unsheathe it, as though he was showing it to them in the hopes that they may cower away in fear. But they respond in kind, getting up at the same time and also letting down their cloaks. Steam starts to leave the king's body and his previously shrivelled skin starts to look younger.

There is discomfort on Salazar's face, he speaks in a disdained voice "we're going to be fighting him at his peak, so don't for one minute let your guards down."

The king who is looking younger now, unsheathes his sword, saying "who would like to die first?" The cloaked men make a battle-ready formation behind Salazar, swords were drawn, short knives in their holders around their laps. Some of them use two swords while some use one, they also have guns strapped to their holsters under each arm. The battle seems to be going against the king. "You may be our strongest fighter now, Salazar, but remember I held that title before I became king" proclaimed the king.

Salazar boastfully announces "You haven't been in a battle for decades, all your training doesn't really count as the real thing. You may be older than I am, hence stronger and faster, but your body consumes much more blood to keep you in that state. You don't have much time. Your only option is to try to settle the fight before you run out of fuel. But with fifteen members of the death squad, I think we'll manage." He unsheathes his sword and breaks into a supersonic dash towards the king and lunges an attack on him holding his sword with both hands, which the king counters with one hand on his sword. The shock wave from the wind pressure of Salazar's momentum makes a crack in the wall. Salazar retreats immediately, telling the king to wipe the smirk off his face, they're just getting started. The death squad disperses, launching an attack on the king.

They barrage him with knives and bullets, which he skillfully blocks and dodges. They begin attacking in four-man squads. One after the other they charge at him, switching groups and tactics after every strike to not give him a chance to predict or counter, having him on the defensive is to their advantage, reducing his chances of retaliating. He continues to block every attack, watching and assessing. He anticipates the next group and takes them all out with one giant swing. The fight ensues at supersonic speed, too fast for the human eye to keep up with. The room is in tatters from the ceiling down to the already cracked floors and walls. Each squad has been reduced to half its initial number, and the rest wounded significantly. The king, though panting heavily is barely injured. Although with every passing second he grows weaker, drawing closer to his limit. He notices the wrinkles appearing again on his forearms. " I have to finish this soon, I can't let them wage war on the humans," he thought to himself. Two teams focus on both his arms, with each team taking on one arm. He attacks with both his sword and sheath, they block, resulting in the trunk of his body being left unprotected. The third team advances towards the opening, he leaps into the air in the hopes of evading, but Salazar saw that coming. He uses his teammate as a stepping stone, to meet the king in midair. The king is too slow to react as he is running low on fuel, Salazar sees this and lunges in fully, risking a deadly counter from the king. But his gamble pays off, he slices the kings neck and the head rolls away into the shadows. The king's body then turns into ash. The surviving fighters collapse from exhaustion as they all suffered considerable damage. Salazar lost an ear but being a vampire he is unfazed by the fact as he will regenerate when he consumes human blood. He picks up the ring of authority from the king's ash. As he wears it, the soldiers kneel in front of him, he sits on the throne saying to them "inform the executives, begin the next phase. We attack at dawn. And get the blood bags ready."
