I leaned back in the chair feeling tired after dinner. Riley stood on a stool wiring something to the top corner of the wall. He peered back catching me stare.

"These are to make sure Marvin doesn't do anything bad" He said gesturing to another corner of the room.

"Are you saying that you're leaving me with a fucking lunatic worse than you" I said as calmly as I could through gritted teeth.

"Calm down. I've given him a list of what he can't do" He replied in a matter-of-factly tone.

I huffed and kicked back my feet. He sighed in relief and turned back to me.

"Now, I've realized you're not good at remembering things so I've come up with a plan" He said walking towards me.

"There's a tiny track phone that's on full charge under a bed in a box" He said gesturing to the bedroom upstairs.

"It has trusted people on it call any of them if you need help. My number is on there too " He continued squatting down in front of me.

I nodded fidgeting around in the seat from his closeness.

There's loud footsteps outside the door as Riley got closer to me. He stood abruptly and swung open the door.

"Oh good right on time" Riley said almost excitedly as the man I saw before walked in.

Riley started talking to the man as he stared directly at me. I squinted my eyes at him as a ghost of a grin showed on his face. He had a glint in his eyes. He looked back at Riley and nodded at something he said.

Surges of panic washed over me out of the blue. My breathing quicken and warm tears started to crawl down my face.

Before I knew it Riley was kissing me on the cheek and walking out the door.

The man turned to me and smirked deviously. Tonight wasn't going to be fun. I needed to watch my back.
