jimin set his phone down
and put his attention
back to the road in front
of him. he was trying his
best to have his battery
percentage last, so he
turned on the radio. there
wasn't any good music on
the stations he enjoyed, which
resulted in him listening
to the news.
insane asylum cannot find
jung hoseok, but will not
issue a warning until they
have checked the whole building,
which they say could take
hours.
jimin turned to the
radio, turning it up. jin
had mentioned jung hoseok
days prior. the topic
interested him, wondering
what he did that made him
go to jail, and soon after,
an insane asylum.
he became paranoid.
what if they can't find
him? what if he escaped?
don't be silly jimin thought.
he shook the thought
from his mind, turning left
and into jin's
neighborhood.

finally, everyone had arrived at seokjin's house. they all sat on the couch watching old disney channel reruns. jeongguk, as usual, was teasing jimin about his height. jimin threw popcorn at him, jeongguk almost pouring his drink on the older boy until namjoon and jin yelled at them. yoongi just laughed and rolled his eyes.
taehyung looked at the time, the clock reading 7:59 P.M. he watched it turn to 8:00 P.M., and as soon as the numbers changed, a long, loud beep came from the television. a deep, siri like voice started to talk,
EMERGENCY BRODCAST SYSTEM:
this is not a drill. we repeat, this is not a drill. asylum patient jung hoseok, male, brown eyes, black hair, 5 feet 10 inches, has made an escape. all facilities must go into to lockdown. we repeat, all facilities must go into to immediate lockdown. male is a threat, and could cause danger.
the group of boys exchanged glances with each other, all seeing the scared and concerned look in each other's eyes. taehyung sits up straight, chills going down his back. he grabs onto yoongi's arm, and can feel the shaking fear of his friend. tae starts breathing uneasily, feeling light headed.
is this really happening? he says, holding tighter to yoongi's arm.
jimin makes eye contact with him and nods, jimin now holding onto namjoon, and jeongguk holding onto jimin. they were acting like there was an earthquake, holding onto each other like that.
a memory pops into jimin's head.

two boys ran around
a vast, green field
together, giggling
like idiots.
"hoseok!" a loud,
mother like voice
yelled from a window.
"get over here!"
there was an evil
glint in the older
boy's eyes, as he
sprinted up the hills
to his mother.
jimin stared confusingly.
why did he look like that?
like he was going to
do something bad.

jimin came back to reality. he was no longer holding onto namjoon, and jeongguk was no longer holding onto him. there were yells coming from behind him, scared yells.
we can't go out, seokjin! we could get fucking murdered! said the familiar deep voice of taehyung.
not if we all go together. we need to be safer, taehyung. my house isn't the safest place in the world. we need to go to my parents' house. it's very safe there.
jimin got up, grabbing the attention of his friends. he told them about what he just remembered, and they begged to hear more.

they were both young and innocent. well, at least jimin was. they had been friends since jimin was two years old, hoseok three. they were friends until jimin was eight, hoseok nine. everytime they saw each other (whenever their mom's wanted to see each other, basically), they wouldn't leave each other's side. jimin didn't know how he forgot about this friendship.
that is, until one day hoseok and his family dissappeared. whenever jimin asked his mom about it, she never answered. she always looked scared, and you could tell a wave of sadness went over her everytime she heard
"mommy, when will i see hobi again?"
whenever she shrugged her shoulders, he pouted.
"i miss hobi."
"me too, jiminie."
