It is Friday and I do not feel like going school today so I tell my mum that I have stomach cramps due to being on my period, she can tell I'm lying but allows me to have the day off anyway. Around 4pm, when I knew school would be ending I check my phone and look at the multiple messages.

Ashton: OH MY GOD AVERY YOU ARE SUCH A BITCH HOW COULD YOU LEAVE ME IN CHEMISTRY YOU KNOW WE HAD TO DO THAT EXPERIMENT THING I WAS COMPLETELY CLUELESS YOU'RE THE SMART ONE OH MY GOD AVERY, FUCK YOURSELF.

Ashton: Joke, ily. Coming over at 6pm.

Then I read Michaels one.

Michael: Saw you wasn't in. Coming over a 6pm.

And then Calums.. I'm sort of realising they are coming over at 6pm.

Calum: How did your mum fall for one of your sickies? Coming over with the others later. See ya.

I saw Luke had messaged me as well, a small grin appeared on my face.

Luke: Hi Avery. So you weren't in today? I had no one to argue with about Romeo and Juliet, sigh. So the guys told me they're coming over later and told me to come, is that cool with you? I mean like you just met me its cool if you don't want me over you know so um hope you feel better.

I immediatly responded to Lukes message and told him to come with the guys at 6pm. I hopped into the shower and made myself look decent, if Luke wasn't coming I would of stayed in my pyjamas and stay put on the sofa. I straightend my hair and let it flow past my shoulders then I put on leggings and an over-sized hoodie and headed downstairs to find the guys already lounging on my sofa.

"Um?" I asked, wondering how they got in.

"You've gave me a spare key in case of emergency. We were thirsty. It was an emergency" Ashton said, I forgot I gave him that.

"What shall we watch?" Luke asked, putting on the Netflix. I sat down inbetween him and Michael.

"Dont say it Avery"

"Avery no"

"Avery we can read your mind"

"STAND BY ME!" I grabbed the controller and searched for it on Netflix, I pressed play and flicked the lightswitch off that was behind me. "This is my favourite film, Luke. They hate it so much now because I always make them watch it. But you'll love it"

I was sobbing and crying by the time the film ended. The rest of the guys just rolled their eyes at me but Luke looked sincerely concerned. "Its okay, this film gets to me sometimes"

"Put something else on before she makes us watch it again" Michael grabbed the remote from my lap and then handed it to Calum.

I felt Luke shifting beside me and he started looking sick. "Luke?" I asked but he didnt reply. Instead, he shot up from the sofa beside me and ran to the downstairs bathroom. We all heard him throw up for about fifteen minutes, we stood by the bathroom door the whole time. He eventually emerged.

"Come on, you need to lie down, follow me" I took his hand and led him upstairs. "I'm gonna put him in my bed, I'll be back in a moment" I said to the others.

I placed Luke down on my bed, with the bin beside him. I took off his shoes for him and then wrapped the duvet over his body. "Is that comfy?"

"Very" Luke gave me a weak smile. "Stay with me for a bit?"

I nodded and sat beside him. He looked so vulnerable and weak. I was genuinely concerned for this boy.

"Avery?" Luke called my name softly. "Avery are you still here?"

"I'm here" I whispered, touching his hand to know I was beside him. He clutched onto my hand and held it.

"Avery"

"Yes?" I asked.

"I think you're beautiful" Luke whispered.

I felt my cheeks start to heat up, I was lucky the room was dark otherwise Luke would be able to see my now crimson cheeks. "Go to sleep Luke"

After I was sure Luke fell asleep, I went back downstairs to join the guys who had started a game of fifa. "Shall I call his parents?"

"No, I'll drive him home later" Ashton turned around to tell me and then snapped his head back to the game.

I was angry and frustrated they were hiding something. I switched off the tv and stood in front of it. "Tell me what is wrong with Luke"

"I told you, he's fine" Calum shuffled back along with the others making room for me to sit down.

"No he's not" I could tell they were lying.

"Its side effects" Michael said.

"Of what?" I asked.

"Chemotherapy"
