Everyone's asleep except me. I have thoughts racing in my head resulting in lack of sleep.  Pat is dead. I'm insane. Sally is a sociopath. May is too nice. Something is unbalanced. Maybe it's me? I'm going nuts. I need to fuck-ing rest. The nurse gave me sleeping pills and I still can't sleep? Something isn't adding up.

I get out of bed and slide in my slippers. I rush to the door to call Dr Jen.

"Dr Jen, help!" I scream into the hallway, my distinctive voice possibly awaking others.

She bolts down the hallway holding onto her wig. Skinny!

"What is the issue?" She asks, panic obviously heard in her voice.

"I can't fucking sleep! I need those pills that help me sleep. You know, the ones the lady offered me during my arrival?" I exclaim, wiping the sweat from my forehead. I don't actually need the pills, I'm just curious as to what they actually are.

"Ok fine, I'll go get them. Leave the door open." Jen says walking away.

I wait till she turns around the corner before walking back inside my room. May was sitting up watching me.

"You could've asked me for some Temazepam. I have some in my drawer." May says stretching her arms, reaching for the sky.

"Sorry, I didn't know. MayI have some?" May reaches into her drawer and grabs some for me. I happily take them, washing them down with some water.

"Thanks." I say.

"Joanne? Here!" Jen hollers running back to our room. She stands at the doorway with my requested items.

I stand silently. "Sorry, I have some now."

"You're starting to get on my bad side." Jen snaps sending me daggers, piercing my soul.

She walks away with her stilettos making click clack noises against the tile floor.

"Is she normally that aggressive?" I ask May.

"Yeah... I just can't figure that woman out."  May says, mentally making an attempt to figure Jen out.

"No one can figure her out." Sally interjects standing at the door.

"Sally, how long have you been there?" May asks.

"Forever. Shit, I don't know. But get some rest kidos, tomorrow's gonna be fun!" Sally yells before doing some robotic dance. Sally exited the room on jazz hands.

I don't have enough energy to take in that randomness. My eyes feel heavy and I felt very sluggish. I walk to my bed slowly and plop into it. Pulling the blanket over my body. The pills that May gave to me actually makes me sleepy instantly, but the ones I was given during my arrival didn't make me sleepy at all. Hmmm...

"Goodnight May"

"Goodnight Joanne"
