As Floyd arrived behind the ambulance at the hospital, he is in a panic, hyperventilating and being quite squeamish. He leaps from his truck and follows the nurses inside as far as he can go, reassuring Octavian that she would be okay. When they told him that he could go no farther, he started to cry and blame himself.
While waiting for the doctor, he wandered the gift shop, looking for something Octavian might like to wake up to.
"Mr. Ramirez?" A small man catches Floyd's attention. "Yes! Yes, that's me. Is Vian okay?" He asks with a trembling voice. "Yes sir, your friend is just fine. She is just starting to wake up if you'd like to see her," the doctor replies to Floyd in a soft voice.
When Floyd walks in, Octavian is visibly happy to see him. "Hey, Floyd," she says with a dried out voice. "Hey, Vian.. I'm so glad you're okay." "Yeah- Floyd, what happened?" "We were racing to the creek, and you fell and hit your head. The doctor told me that you've also got a fractured wrist and a shattered ankle," Floyd explains to her the extremity of her injuries, and he holds he hand while doing so. "I'm so sorry, Vian.. we should've walked," he continues.
"Floyd. It's okay. I'm alright," she reassures him and leans up to kiss his cheek.
